new here guys, so first to say hi to all.
if posting in the wrong section, please move for me.
i am a complete newbie as far as doing things myself on a wii. a friend always did everything for me, but didn't show me how to do anything.
anyway, quite a while ago, he put a mod chip into my wii, as well as the home brew channel, cios files and various other bits and pieces to let me run games from a hdd. all was working fine until i ran out of battery on a controller i was using. i changed the batteries but almost all games i try to load now through wiiflow fail with a black screen once i have clicked on to the game. i have tried changing which ios to use, but nothing loads. as far as i know, he backed things on to the sd card in the wii, but have no idea how to access it or how to use it to recover the back up and am really worried i will brick the console anyway. anyone prepared to advise a complete wii idiot, please?

many TIA

Well batteries wont effect games loading from ext.hdd I can tell you that much. Do you have Bootmii@boot2 or @IOS? & do you have a nand backup? Know restoring with Bootmii is usually a last resort but should solve all problems but not necessarily the case.

Ok, so can you post a sys check? So I can see which IOS you have installed :) you can pm me this info and after that I can help you narrow down the problem. Remember modding the wii is basicly idiot proof once your understand how simple it is. The wii will usually just shut you out if you try to do anything you shouldnt but the only way I see you bricking your Wii as your so worried about it is if you modify any IOS below 200 or try downgrading system menus.

On a side note have you tried to remod your wii using ModMii? It's simple easy and well as stated idiot proof.

I... Really don't see how replacing your controller's batteries could mess up your USB loader.

If your friend has any experience, he probably made a NAND backup. Just ask him to restore it, that should fix it if it's a software error.

However, it could be a hardware issue as well. Try unplugging the HDD and plugging it in again, also try to see if it works correctly on your PC.

hi. tnx to you both for your replies. as i said, i am a complete wii idiot. when it worked, i was ok, now it doesn't, i am basically stuffed. friend knows what he is doing but reckons he is too busy to help, hence me asking here.
problem 1) i have no idea how to get a sys check, let alone how to get it from the wii to the pc or how to post it.
problem 2) from what i recall, he did do a nand backup, but have no idea where that is or how to put it back.
also, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the hdd itself. have unplugged it, replugged it but no joy. as i have backups of the games on a separate hdd, i formatted the wii external one and put all the games back. no errors showed. sorry for being so wii thick and worried about bricking it. like all things new, once you know and have done it, next time is easier. gonna need some real idiot proof instructions, i am afraid.
