What you described is literally the appeal of the game. It's probably just not for you.
It was the appeal of the game. When I was a kid. I'm over thirty now, it's time for a change. Even turn-based strategy games have evolved over time, Pokemon is the only one which has stuck to its guns this long. The reason surely being to reinforce the brand and continue appealing to children, but the irony is that it's adults who are scared of change. The kids will be happy with it either way.

It's not like they had a ton of options for combat with Pokemon Red/Blue anyway. The original Gameboy was extremely limiting. Now they do have a lot of valid options as long as they're executed well.

pokemon still sells becuase of the same appeal lol also we already had manny surprises.
mega evolutions last gen
z moves this gen.

this 2 things are gamebreakers and can change the entire outcome of battles.

look at any other pokemon copycat they have diferent fighting styles and sell very low compared to the pokemon series.

if you want a totaly diferent fighting style you can make a spinoff and see if people like it.

thats why you have series like pokemon ranger, pokemon mystery dungeon, pokken, pokemon conquest and so on.

turn based strategy now is the rare thing, if you want an jrpg you got tons on evey console, turn based ones are all gone with very few exceptions here and there, not to mention gamefreak will never be crazy to change everything, specialy with a main title game, they have recources to do a spin off and see if it sticks, if it sells wells and its well recieved then they can bring it to the main series latter.

Not really, but PC is obviously home to more TBS games than anywhere else. And like I said, the majority of modern ones aren't nearly as basic as Pokemon.

They already did a spinoff and even gauged its popularity on Switch: Pokken. It wouldn't be that exact combat style but rather a mix of that and current turn-based Pokemon. They aren't going to abandon turn-based altogether, on that we can agree. The callouts and turn timers would still play the most important role, with basic attacks/blocks/grabs being secondary and doing a lot less damage.

It's foolish to assume what they "won't do" with Pokemon Switch, because most people would've assumed Nintendo won't make an open world Zelda game. Or Oddworld: Mario's Odyssey. Nintendo is sitting on a pile of money. It's not as big as Apple's, but they can still take any risk they want to at this point. Labo is my example A.

Still a ridiculous idea. The appeal actually is the turn based gameplay. It's not the kind of game I want to be worrying about when they will attack or when to dodge or have to worry about that. I want to select commands. Not real time dodging. It would unbalance the hell out of the game and you'd lose so many movesets and moves and the competitive scene will be pissed. It's just all around not a good idea and just won't happen. It's silly.

That might be the main appeal for you, but people play Pokemon games for a lot of different reasons. The combat is just getting you from A to B.

It's not the kind of game I want to be worrying about when they will attack or when to dodge or have to worry about that.
You don't have to worry about it, you just play the game and get better over time. It's not like you have to worry about getting beat by NPC trainers, I'm sure they'll be the same easy trash they've always been unless there are difficulty levels and/or NG+.

I want to select commands.
Which is what you would do. D-pad would select commands, you can confirm with R or ZR, while the face buttons remain free for combat.

It would unbalance the hell out of the game and you'd lose so many movesets and moves and the competitive scene will be pissed.
Regardless of whether they go real-time or not, GF has mentioned going back to basics with this game, so expect a reduced number of total moves either way. How you think that makes things less balanced rather than more balanced is beyond me. It's fewer moves to tweak the numbers for.

and pokken is popular how? if it sold even 10% of sun and moon with wiiu and switch versions combined is already too good lol.

what pokken proved is pokemon fans arent interested in that playstyle, most of the people that bough pokken wanted a fighting game not a RPG pokemon game its not even the same userbase.

if they made combat like pokken can you see how much time it would take for random encounters with level grinding? every freaking pokemon dodging attacks and you have to kill 50 for some good exp, damn or even finding rare pokemons would take you forever unless you runned every freaking battle.

Saleswise pokken proved people dont care about a fighting pokemon game, if it was a pokemon rpg it would sell over 10 millions in an heartbeat not under 3 million lol and released on 2 consoles even.

I never thought about putting the pokemon more up to scale. That'd be funny in the Switch game, you can look at the daycare center, and have a Wailord and Skitty right next to each other. After all, they can breed together.

I think it did well enough on Switch that a mix of the two systems seemed like a safe bet rather than abandoning turn-based altogether.

Potentially less time than it takes now depending on how they tune things. Definitely less repetitive regardless.

Saleswise pokken proved people dont care about a fighting pokemon game, if it was a pokemon rpg it would sell over 20 millions in an heartbeat not under 1 million lol
And you know what makes more money than turn-based RPGs or fighting games? Action RPGs. Not that money is even necessarily the ultimate goal here. Again, Nintendo and Game Freak have a huge golden parachute, they can take risks. They did with Switch, BotW, and Odyssey. No reason to believe they'll stop now.

There's a HUGE difference between what they did with the three things you've mentioned and what you're wanting to happen. It's ridiculous man. Also the switch wasn't a risk. Odyssey wasn't really a risk. The only risky thing was BotW which I and many found to be very mediocre in comparison to other Zeldas.

how is odissey a risk? its a 3d single player mario game ... they already did that with 64,galaxy,sunshine and such, its everything but a risk lol.

how do jrpgs make more money? they sell less lol final fantasy games cant even touch half of the pokemon sales same for monster hunter... unless your talking about online mmos on pc with subscriptions they dont make more money at all...

i have no idea how you even got that jrpgs make more monney by selling 1/3 at best than regular pokemon titles...

He's just trying to convince us that his idea is solid. It's really not a good idea at all though and it's not going to happen.

Also the switch wasn't a risk.
Seriously? The only proven portables have been Nintendo portables which were weaker and cheaper than Switch. Combining their home console and portable into one is obviously a risk, that's why it hasn't been done before.

It's very different from any other 3D Mario game. They usually try to be unique, but not everyone was on board with the direction Nintendo took with Odyssey.

A. JRPGs are mostly turn-based. B. I said Action RPGs, not JRPGs.

Not a risk. An idea. Hell, if you want to be anal about it, every product released is a risk. You're REALLY fishing for reasons...

Odyssey is different, sure. As was the Wii U one. As was Luigi's Mansion. Your point?

Also you're quoting wrong. I didn't say those^

I just want a FF7 system.
Where its turn base but each person (or pokemon in this matter) have there own speed and some are faster then others. Which means they might be able to attack 2 times in one go.
Its a turn base system but also live.

Again show me an ARPG that is released on consoles that even sells close to pokemon...

no one tough odissey was bold or even diferent its the same exact thing as any 3d single player mario game... that was no risk at all, if they made sunshine 2 that would be a risk since sunshine is the mario game with most people not liking due to fludd being needed for every single map and level to preety much anything, not even cappy is needed for most of the game just for some power moons...

Yeah that's kinda the idea. An active turn-based system that's truly active during the turn timer wind-up instead of sitting around in idle animations.

That's bullshit and you know it. Playstation 4 has basically the same design for the console and controller as PSX did. Most businesses are very wary of taking risks, which is why Nintendo is the only one of the three console devs to do it.

that would basicaly break every pokemon lol, there are pokemons with stat speeds of 150 and some with 20 or 30 wich would be useless that would make game balancing be basicaly fast pokemon wins lol

It only breaks everything if you insert it in an old Pokemon game. They can tweak numbers and the effects of stats all they like.

you still havent showed me an arpg that even sells close to pokemon on consoles, also tweaking the speed of every pokemon to had a speed bar for attacks would be totaly pointless and useless since it would still be a turn based gameplay with a tiny diferent bar that you attack on the end of it instead of being by speed order...
