Homebrew [PSA] The lastest mGBA nightly runs pretty fast.

The answer isn't straight forward. Some users elect to use a certain BIOS for speed or stability gains they might have on a particular game for certain game-play sections. It highly depends on a case-by-case setup.

What endrift says isn't wrong. You generally won't see a benefit using an external BIOS vs the mGBA internal BIOS, on average/most of the time. The option to use BIOS are for those who codes their own / borrow a special built BIOS, trying to sequeeze a few extra FPS and what not.
Thanks for the answer.:)

okay i cant seem to get GBC bios to show up.

any ideas what do i name it too?

Assuming that this currently nightly build can handle multiple bios and those separate (GB, GBC, GBA, SGB) aren't just placeholders

try addding in:
gbc.bios=mgba/bios/[your GBC bios].bin

If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you're going to have to scoot your GBA bios off the:
bios = mgba/bios/...
and let your GBC bios borrow that.

gotta ask, how's GB/GBC emulation on this build?
im asking because the 0.61 build had good emulation for GBC games but GB games couldnt be colored and super gameboy features couldnt be used either, so its only slightly better than gameyob 3DS because of the quality of the emulation, but gameyob DSi is still smoother and more fully featured

EDIT: just checked, SGB and GBC support has been indeed expanded on, infact, as soon as i started donkey kong the SGB border and palette auto applied, good bye gameyob DSi, hello mGBA

EDIT2: azure dreams boots to GBC mode and not SGB mode, therefore no borders, is there any way to pick what mode is chosen?
7.0 supports SGB palettes and plays GB games in HD.

THIS POST IS JUST A COLLECTION OF CONCEPT RENDERINGS. THERE IS NO BUILD OR CODE AT THIS TIME.

I've been mulling over the idea of implementing bubble2k16k's emulator GUI into mGBA. I'm at the preliminary stage of checking for feasibility and practicality. Is it within my means and capability? Here are some mock up pictures of what I envision. The purple based color scheme was borrowed from https://mgba.io/ , to keep her emulator distinct from bubble2k16's signature blue.

Edit - The last panel with the exiting 'Leaving so soon?' swaps out the red for Bubble2k16's main blue, kinda like a tribute for where the derived GUI design stems from.

Is this actually been done in code?
Or is a simple mockup not yet coded?

If it's code, I highly recommend you contact endrift and get in talks to merge this to the official repo, as it is looking pretty nice.

They're mock ups as stated in the reply. Currently brainstorming and mental sand boxing how bubble's GUI would work on mGBA. The next step is studying her source code, bubble's source code, devKitPro, cmake, CTR SDK, and all the other tools needed to make it happen. Treat the pictures as an imaginable-viewable possibility BUT know that at this stage, it's a pipe dream.

I'll go back and edit my post with bigger and bolder warnings.

Oh haha sorry I just got cluttered with the images in my small screen and missed that part :P
But it's looking pretty neat so far!
Hopefully this can come to fruition.

so how's mgba these days?
Are fps constant or still fluctuating over and under 60?
Is sound still scratchy and buggy?

nope, still the same as before. frameskip doesn't seem to do anything, sound is still weird, not even the language select screen in advance wars is full speed.
Am I doing something significantly wrong? Anytime I find activity in a mgba thread, people are saying that everything improved so much in the last months, but its stll running the same it ran over a year ago when I first got my n3ds.

still the same. it’s preferable to convert and inject with ultimate gba vc.

Is it possible to prevent mGBA from creating the mGBA folder on the root of the sd and use sd:/3ds/mgba as default folder?
