The 'Dygma Raise' Aims To Be "The World's Most Advanced Gaming Keyboard"

dygma-raise-5.jpg

Most keyboards we use still follow the 30 year old design, that is, one not really designed with gaming in mind. We do have gaming keyboards but they mostly follow the classic form factor. While split keyboards are not entirely new, one that has been particularly geared for an optimized gaming experience has not been widely adopted. Meet the Dygma Raise, a split keyboard that has been designed by gamers for gamers that intends to fill this gap.

Zelda fan spotted

The title of this news post might sound cocky but that's what the official Kickstarter campaign is advertising its product as. The Dygma Raise comes chock-full with options while boasting "no learning curve". With the Raise, you can create multiple layouts and toggle instantly between them. Every key in every layout is remappable and can be configured as a macro with its own color. It also features hot-swappable mechanical switches, interchangeable palm pads, a sturdy full aluminium body, true N-key rollover, RGB Backlight and underglow, 8 thumb keys thanks to a split spacebar and the whole thing can be attached/detached to your liking. The latter feature will allow you to detach either side and play with the other, giving more space for your mouse and be able to play more comfortably.

Another neat feature that I have noticed is that the keyboard is also a natural fit for left-handed gamers, a demography that is often left out.

Naturally this premium product does not come cheap. The current KS pledges allows you to save up to 30%, with a special last week offer priced at €165.

This ambitious project has been literally kickstarted by the former coach of League of Legends team Fnatic, Luis “Deilor” Sevilla. Luis and I have been in contact and he has been sharing his passion for his project and how he wants to contribute in the gaming industry, particularly in the e-sports field, with a more optimized keyboard in the ergonomic, customization, comfort and aesthetic front. To that end Dygma will be providing GBAtemp with a pre-retail review sample of the Raise so that you can have an exclusive look at what the retail version packs. Keep an eye out for our review sometime during the year!

With the Kickstarter campaign ending on the 21st of January, Dygma has already raised (pun intended) more than 200% of its initial goal. The Dygma Raise is expected to ship in Q4 of 2018.

Aside of the cuztomizable keys and split function the keyboard doesnt bring something new, unless you can "transform" it into a joycon controller xD...

It's just a fucking keyboard! I use a Logitech K350 and it's the best keyboard you can currently buy. Better than any Razer/Corsair/etc keyboard by a long shot. Got it for free because someone gave it to me, but otherwise I'd never spend $30+ on a keyboard. Gaming keyboards are just for cringey kiddos that brag about their 32GB of RAM when they only use ~4GB, heh.

I promised me bf I'd break his keyboard in half if he ever gets a noisy click thing.

It's fine if you live on your own but when you live together or live with more then 2 people in a house, rattling keyboards can become very irritating.

But yeh, it's just another fad.
I don't get the point of having a billion RGB lights everywhere around your computer...
I had a clicky keyboard. I almost got it shoved down my throat. And I agreed, it's unacceptable for me to annoy someone when they try to sleep plus it sucked so I bought this:
Corsair Gaming Strafe RGB MX Silent

It doesn't sound like a mechanical keyboard but it have that nice feeling of it. I'm oldschool so I do like my keyboards mechanical.
If they're better for gaming? Doubt it, it's probably a marketing stunt.

More pressure used to click the keys, which comes in handy when you're slightly resting your hands on it but it also means more energy is used to press them.
I think it matters very little when it comes to gaming performance, personal preferences still contribute a lot to gaming performance.
I for example can't type on a raised keyboard with with a lot of deep keys, let alone play a game.

If I had a desktop, a simple 25 quid silent keyboard will suffice.
I'm not spending 100+ on a fucking keyboard.
Can just as easily grab a PS/2 Win 95 certified keyboard if I want a mechanical one ;')

Ooooooh! I want one of the keyboards from where I was a kid. It was a IBM one with that BIG contact on it, I can't remember the modellnumber at the moment. It was so nice... today I doesn't have a windows key so that can be a bit annoying using Windows 10 with however.

You could source Ebay for it.
Tho, idk how much it'll cost in the end.

Wait, people like noisy keyboards? I'm still using some noisy keyboard from the 90's because it still works, and I'm too lazy to buy a new one.

You're not supposed to smash on your keyboard.
If simple keyboards break in half within half a year, I wouldn't be near you when you're playing games.
i play diablo on my laptop, i had to replace the keyboard after 1 year because W and space werent working, im a pretty calm dude so its not my fault that the 2 keys i use the most broke

I've been using the same laptop for over a decade.
It has seen countless of hours of gaming, millions if not billions of keystrokes and I still got the original touchpad and keyboard in it.

It's still working perfectly..

Well, yes, I sure have seen bad quality membrane keyboards too.
Don't buy the laptop with the cheap/bad one and it will sure last.

PS: Once upon a time I had a Packard Bell laptop, I barely used the keyboard and it still felt like shit and the space bar didn't work well. Just don't buy shit (and yes, Packard Bell is bottom tier level shit)

The 8510p is me main lappy.
A decade of being on 24/7, only failed once (to which I replaced the mobo and frame)

Looks like a laptop keyboard and seemingly has no other particularly redeeming factors.

Also kind of reminded me of the old datahand things.

"only failed once (to which I replaced the mobo and frame)"
Do I get to call grandfather's axe?
