Team Xecuter reveal info on upcoming Switch modchip

SwitchTX.jpg

Just over a week ago, team Xecuter announced that they are working on a soon-to-be-revealed modchip for the Nintendo Switch. This was big news because modchip devices are usually used to circumvent anti-piracy measures on many digital platforms, but mainly gaming systems, and to see one already in the works for a machine that is only 10 months old is very rare.

Since then the team have been quiet, no one knows what the device will look like, how it will work, or when they can get their hands on one - but GBAtemp can exclusively reveal today that there will be BOTH a solder AND solderless option of team Xecuter's Nintendo Switch modchip.

Here is a direct quote from team Xecuter:

For now, I can tell you there is a solder and solderless version. We have quite a lot in the works, you will have more info soon.

The difference in pricing should be interesting in the two versions of the device, but at least you can now rest safely, knowing that the team will be providing options for whatever the Xecuter Switch modchip turns out to be.

Stay tuned to GBAtemp for more info in the upcoming weeks.

More info will be released in the coming weeks, on all the features our TX Switch mod will allow you.

As for 'online' that is all up to how Nintendo will response to the changes in their firmware, we here at TX have never guarantee our mods to work online for Xbox, or Xbox 360 or PS3, that is all up to your own risk, and as always it is wise to invest in a second Switch console if you wish full online security, that is not the main point of modding, never has been and never will be, sorry to bust your bubble there.

That is what an admin on http://team-xecuter.com/forums/thre...tch-console!?p=1065415&viewfull=1#post1065415 posted.
So looks like its both hardware and software. (meaning the solder-less chip may be able to be removed after doing the changes to the firmware.)

I'm personally interested in going into the developers menu that is seen in a particular Switch ad and screenshot.

That's probably where you can unlock alot of features that Nintendo has been taking time implementing like using a bluetooth headset since joycons and pro controller use 4.1 bluetooth and also you can see Nintendo is eventually gonna add bluetooth headphones feature into it if you put your system in airplane mode and then click on using joycons, it says beside it "Bluetooth" like there gonna add in headphones later and it will be below that.

I'm interested. I'd like to use it for is to run potential homebrew to use something like TCPGecko, so I can skip the grind in some games with cheats like in Hyrule Warriors (infinite rupees and materials, max leveling quickly) or Zelda BotW (the rare materials). If Xenoblade X is ported, oh man, would make things a lot easier if XCXGecko is tweaked for that too.

So far, the Switch has been very satisfying with games, the region free, and going away from the "think of the children" censorship that Treehouse caused. Since I wanted to play the games like Xenoblade 2, I kept the firmware up to date haha.

Bad memes aside, that's your opinion.

It's not even an opinion. It's just someone plugging their ears and claiming that something they don't like means it's "not notable". Special snowflakes do that, they believe everything they think is the law of the universe.

The real question is why hang around on a subforum pertaining to a system you clearly don't like?

There's a good reason hardmods kinda disappeared. Which you've alluded to. It's a tough task picking up and shifting your whole life to develop a mod chip. I've seen a lot of posts disrespecting TX for 'profiteering' they are potentially offering a solution that supports all consoles that exist today, that can't be patched without a HW revision. I don't think that's a reflection of the community as a whole, but probably a lack of understanding what these guys do.

I don't think it's illegal in AUS. However the money disappeared with the current generation of consoles, it just wasn't profitable to run a 'modshop' modding a previous generation or 2 or 3 of consoles. The Switch having a hardmod won't revive it. At the 360's peak there was modshops in malls promoting mods for every console before it. Personally I miss that. But we got to a stage when softmodding took over, and anyone with 1/4 of a brain could do it.

I'd typed 20 lines after this but decided to delete them. But basically everyone wants free everything. In fact I haven't seen a single donate to a dev post, do these devs even accept donations? I wouldn't know.
I prefer the hardmode with chip by my self...

And even though I have almost no money, I donate to the right people, last one was VOKSI which patches PC games with multiplayer working... Even long before the first Denuvo game was patched for the common sites, I was already playing months earlier with Voksi private patch that he even offered it to me, but I still donated after, and I will probably donate to him again later, for now I have been playing 0 patched games for months already. I only play SQUAD from time to time which is the most realistic FPS ever in my opinion and I support indie way more than EA, Ubilolosoft and others that piss me off, specially when they kill some of my all time favourite games and their 100+eur price for the full games(which is way more than a full week of my old salary and now I'm currently unemployed)...

I bought Star Wars and BF1 and have like 20 hours in each for years already, booring games. BF1942 and BF2 were way better. If EA even opened up frostbite BF to modding, that would make the best ever games by the community, I can't wait for something like Forgotten Hope 2 BF2 mod on the latest frostbite, way better than what EA does...

ps: On my 3DS I bought it and put it in the shelf for years until Gateway arrived, I still use gateway, but I actually only played like 3 or 4 games on the console, its like brand new and has almost no use, I dont like most nintendo games. Switch this time is the most powerful gaming only portable device ever made until now and its bringing lot more multiplatform games, thats why I'm crazy about it, but still have no money for one at the moment and I will keep waiting for Team Xecuter solution. I also never cared for any PSP and never had one and don't want one not even for free...

I am still around and did not like the 3ds (was not even fit to sit in the DS' shadow from where I sit). I would also agree that the Switch library is somewhat lacking and does not show much signs of improving over the next half year, indicators further out are not all looking rosy either.
While straight android port and all that comes with it would be nice for homebrew I also can't envisage another GBA, DS, PSP, Wii, Xbox style homebrew scene kicking off for it either.

That pretty much leaves cheats and ROM hacks for what there is.

With that said more hacks more better so roll it all on.

Yeah but the Zelda portably on the Switch looks pretty awesome. And the latest Wolfenstein I have it patched in my PC and also is a pretty damn good game which I never ever thought it would come to a portable device.

+ even with piracy more and more people are buying games and the Switch is breaking records on USA, I bet it will bring a lot more devs from triple A multiplatform games, that's mostly what I like.

I my self don't usually like nintendo games... Super mario was nice, back in the 90s when I was a kid, but nowadays, I prefer more realistic experiences and less animated games, though I saw my friend playing Zelda and it looks pretty good, I never even tried any of the zeldas on my 3DS neither I care for any of the 3DS ones...

I can't also deny I downloaded CEMU on my PC and have the Zelda + DLC's running at high resolution, but its still a bit laggy, though I haven't tested the new version of CEMU, but those kinds of games I usually can't just play in the PC, not even with the controller, I mostly leave my PC to play top realistic games and crap or more animated games I usually can only play in consoles, don't ask me why... I also have a Xone controller in my PC with wireless dongle and can use an app to control my PC with the gamepad and connect it to my TV, but still mehhhhh, most games I install in the PC I don't ever play them...

To be honest, Xenoblade series is an amazing series, Xenoblade 3d for new 3ds was my first game and it was something but when I got to the end and the fact that my characters kept dying against monsters right before the final boss even at level 80, I was aggravated and waited for a year and 3ds was hacked and cheats for that game came and made it more fun and not irritating, so I'm looking forward towards cheating in 2, Skyrim, even though Skyrim is already easy with its glitches, I wanna make Skyrim more like the PC, not mods but something else.

Zelda is gonna be real fun with cheats, a Master Sword with endless energy.
