C'mon, you know it's gotta be Puyo Puyo Tetris, not only is it a great game, but the Japanese version has an exploit! You can easily access the browser though it!

In my opinion the top 3 games of the year are:
3) Mario Odessy
2) Xenoblade Chronicles 2
1) The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
Reasoning:
3) I placed Odessy in 3rd because although it was a very fun game. I felt very let down. The world's we're too small and the game was way to short in term of story. Along with the motion controls being forced to be used.
2) I placed Xenoblade here because although I love the game it deffinitley has major flaws. The game runs like crud on handheld mode, the compass sucks, and it is some what a step down from Xenoblade Chronicles x by it being less open world.
1) I place breath of the wild here since there are no major flaws that I remember and it has became my favorite game ever because it is just so fun.

Zelda deserves to win. Mario 2nd.
Xenoblade is my personel favourit.
The list is a little bit odd. Many medicore games like Bomberman, Has been heroes, snake pass and 1-2-switch, but there are many great games missing like e.g. Steamworld Dig 2. Also there is Sonic forces instead of sonic Mania.
Forces is an original game.

Odyssey for me. Zelda was mediocre imo. No idea why people are creaming their pants over it. It was far from what people have been making it out to be. I want it to go back to linear. Miss the actual difficulty progression and such. Open world was neat once. But please no more open world "any dungeon" bs thanks
Open world for Zelda is AMAZING. They just need to make the dungeons REAL DUNGEONS. Not the stupid shrines only.. I like the shrines but if that's the only dungeon for them, then lets go back to the previous formula, thanks.

i voted for mario + rabbits. i feel like it is the only title needing a direct sequal. Same exact formual but expanded. Like addtional damage types, more playable characters and more enenimes. Hell I would enjoy the paper versions of all the characters plus the wario brothers and donkey's family. And of course the kupa kids too. A sequal needs to make defeated boss characters or midway boss characters turn into party members.

It's always hard to pick a GOTY for a console that didn't even have a full year to get into full swing, but given the available choices I have to go with BOTW. It's by no means a perfect game and I often described it as Skyrim Lite, but the sheer scale of the title and the craftsmanship involved elevates it above all the other choices.

Glad to see the best game has properly taken the throne.

Breath of the Wild was an ambitious change of pace while still retaining the beauty, charm and quality typical of the Zelda series. It still felt like a Zelda game. People can dislike some of the systems, either out of ignorance or preference, but in general the game was executed masterfully. The durability system was required for balance purposes, but it also worked well to force players into tactical decision-making. You couldn't just whip out your biggest, strongest weapon to wreck every bokoblin you run into. But it was also generous enough with weapons that you always had a variety of things to use. The world itself was absolutely glorious, huge and fun to explore. It definitely had its flaws, which makes sense given the size and scope of the game, as well as it being their first attempt at anything like it. But they were minor in the grand scheme of things.

Mario Odyssey on the other hand just felt like a lifeless fangame. Moons are sprinkled around with no thought or care. They went with significant quantity over any sort of quality. Most levels had fairly empty, boring, lifeless designs with few exceptions. Most had an incredibly small amount of enemies to possess per level, and the ones they did add had a very specific, very obvious purpose. Most worlds were pretty devoid of any staple enemies, unless you really have a boner for goomba stacking for the 50th time. Controls were a bit awkward. Not difficult to figure out, but awkward. They don't feel clean or smooth, especially the dive. Not to mention tacking on motion controls where plenty don't get a button assigned to them as an alternative, leaving half the buttons unmapped or mapped with the same things as other buttons. Especially for a game on Nintendo's brand new hybrid console where you can't viably use the motion controls without shaking your Switch like a baby that wont stop crying. Compared to other Mario games it's an absolutely mediocre experience. It didn't improve upon anything, instead opting to cheapen many of the things that made previous Mario title staples.

Voez is a preatty good game. I see people doesn't voted it, but I don't really know why. I've enjoyed more Sonic Forces and Voez than Z:BOTW and SMO tbh.
I love voez alot but.... sadly botw has wasted more hours of my life away

I thought Xbox was supposed to be next.
Looks like Breath of the Wild has overtaken Odyssey.
sorry for the off topic but dangit, every dam time it screws me up when I see the same profile pic XD

I loved botw. I put in over 100 hours in the first week or two of release then another 100+ after the dlcs came out. It is such an amazing world to be able to explore. I get some people find it not as fun, but for someone who is too busy to go out these days, I welcome the open world aspect of it and its focus on exploration and discovery.

Mario would be a close second followed by ARMS and some Indies (though they're not exclusive to the switch).
