Yes, and that's exactly what I did, the same command line as you, and still, I can't get rid of the effing borders, why? I don't know, and sadly, I don't think I'll ever get this fixed. :sad::angry:

*Throws arms up in defeat* I'm done, I'm so done. No one will be able to ever resolve this, much less provide things and settings to try. For the record I'm using Haxchi 2.21b (power consumption fix), and RetroArch Clover 1.0 on ClusterM's GitHub.
So yeah, I'm screwed, I'll never be able to do it. :nayps3:

Edit: Again, RA does load, because I can bring up the menu, but the damn Canoe borders are somehow loading along with RA, maybe because I didn't make a separate folder for the RA games? Am I supposed to or can I have both Canoe and RA games in the same place?

What I would do is update to 2.21f and restart everything up, just drag the new hakchi over the old, and reflash custom kernel... Personally I'd love to have your problem HAHA!

It'd be much simpler... just erase the hmods you have and use the new hakchi, it'll be smooth sailing.

No need for different folders at all... it's really weird as I've used Hakchi for SNES since the betas and all and I've never had borders on any retroarch game.

That's strange - I'm not aware of any way _not_ to have the Canoe borders appear even when using Retroarch. They won't animate, but they definitely appear.

As soon as I use a game which runs on retroarch I don't have borders, it's the same on the dozen consoles I've modded...

There are even mods to have borders on retroarch so it's you guys who have uncommon setups.

Nothing uncommon at all - Hakchi 2.21f with Retroarch and Snes9x mods, that's it.

I really don't know why you guys can get retroarch to show canoe's borders...

Retroarch also has a slightly larger image size too...

Any idea as to how to get Retro Receiver classic to have B and Y as A and B? Like the original NES retro receiver?

I finally setup my Super NES Classic with the USB Mod and it is fantastic!!!!

However, I've been having problems with running Neo-Geo games, and I'm wondering if someone can help me out.

I've tried to run a simpler/smaller game (Cyber-Lip) with Mame2003, but when loading the game, the screen goes black and eventually exits back into the Classic menu.

It shouldn't be a problem with the USB setup or cores because other arcade games for Mame2003 work on USB. The relevant cores I have installed are:
_km_mame2003_12_8_17.hmod
_km_retroarch_12_3_17.hmod

With just the above installed, I copied the Mame2003 neogeo.zip bios into the same directory as the rom (in .zip format) and used the desktop command:
/bin/mame2003 /usr/share/games/CLV-Z-JWLSQ/cyberlip.zip
which didn't work (strangely, after trying to load the game, I noticed something/somewhere automatically deletes the neogeo.zip file from the folder).

I also tried installing the additonal mod:
_km_bios_neogeo_mame2003_req.hmod
deleted neogeo.zip from the games folder and ran the desktp command:
/bin/mame2003 /usr/share/games/CLV-Z-JWLSQ/cyberlip.zip NEO-GEO
which also didn't work.

Not sure what else to try at this point? I also gave fba2012 [with proper rom & bios] a whirl (which I have successfully setup to run other arcade games), but it didn't work with neo-geo games again.

Fba2012 or fba_neogeo never worked for me with neogeo games. I use fba2016 for cps and neogeo games and it works great.

I just tried fba2016 + the unibios and can get Neo-Geo games working now! Good enough for me!

Thanks alot for the suggestion!

That's what I want to know, but the version of Hackchi shouldn't matter, RetroArch requires 2.20 at least, and I'm on 2.21b with the voltage fix, the most recent build was released in October and those fixes don't include anything with RetroArch; it's a separate entity. And I don't have any uncommon setups, only mods I have are -noscanlines and -retroarch/Snes9x, that is literally all I have, I double checked. The ROMs are all converted by Hackchi, so yeah, there's nothing strange or uncommon with my set up. I'd tag ClusterM, but I don't want to bother him.

The command line is the same as yours
I'm using the same version of RetroArch as you do
I have the same folder structure as you

There is NO reason for this to be happening, and yet, it freaking is -_- Frankly, the borders shouldn't be an issue when using another emulator, there's no way to remove the overlay at all. I'm going to have to report this on GitHub.

I tried tagging @PPlays and @KMFDManic and neither one has given any insight as to why this happens :(

Did you try to click Restart after setting desired aspect ratio and/or save config?

No, what happens is when I resize it, the window within the border does get resized, but the border remains, it's really aggravating that I can't get this to work. Why the Canoe border remains is beyond me, it sounds like a glitch with RA itself.
So, imagine the border that Canoe uses, with RA in it, but the aspect ratio stretches within it, but not past it, so 16:9 will look like a 16:9 image, squashed within the 4:3 border. It's not normal. I may have to file a report on GitHub.

So no, I didn't try exiting and resetting but I don't have high hopes, this is really wearing me down.

Edit: RA 1.0 changelog is as follows

- Bugfixes (previous release was broken a bit, sorry)
- Pixel perfect scanlines
- Corrected aspect ratio by default (can be tweaked via menu)
- Decorative frames for SNES mini
- In other words, much better integration with NES and SNES Classic Mini.

Maybe?

Hi, decorative frames are present with RA 1.0 from cluster.

You can't disable it but you can edit the files in bin/ to remove the particular command in cmdline.
For example, look at this code:
Code:
#!/bin/sh

options=""
while [ $# -gt 0 ] ; do
  case "$1" in
  --decorative-frame-path)
	shift
	;;
  *) options="$options $1" ;;
  esac
  shift
done
options="$options --decorative-frame-path /usr/share/backgrounds/z1_gba/z1_gba_4_3"

exec retroarch-clover mgba "$options"
This example is for the gba file. It removes the selected border (lines 3 to 12) and replace by a specific one (line 13).
Remove line 13 and you'll have no border for this core.

@KMFDManic , I seriously don’t know what’s wrong with my setting, but I’ve tried everything and still can’t get splash screen to work. I did everything from the scratch (uninstalling the kernel), specifically used hakchi-gui-win32(official)(12-1-17) from your Github page as well as used the example of boot.png that you provided along with it, then copied and pasted it on my USB flashdrive directory (hakchi/). I still got that black “knock, knock” screen. :sad:

Which release did you download? The splash screen switch is only possible on release after 1st Dec -17. 1-12-17.

How do you run DosBox games on latest retroarch? It runs fine, but I can't map a key to the controller to get into games like Oregon Trail or Number Munchers. I've looked at the options and it'll only let me select Gamepad, Joystick, Keyboard, or none. The last time I tried to bind keys, I messed up the settings and my controller no longer worked on my NES classic (not just in retroarch and I still haven't fixed yet). Any help is greatly appreciated.
