Nintendo Switch Sells 10 Million Worldwide
Nintendo’s Video Game System Passes Major Milestone in Just Nine Months

Despite launching in March, a month not usually reserved for home console launches, and with the busy holiday shopping season still in full swing, the Nintendo Switch system has already sold 10 million units to consumers around the world, according to Nintendo’s internal sales figures.

Full PR:
Nintendo Switch is a home console that can be played on a TV, and also taken instantly on the go – it lets people play their favorite games anytime, anywhere and with anyone. And since every Nintendo Switch system comes bundled with two Joy-Con controllers, players can easily share the fun of compatible multiplayer games with friends and family right out of the box.

The robust and diverse library on Nintendo Switch features two of the most acclaimed video games of all time in Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. At The Game Awards last week in Los Angeles, Super Mario Odyssey won the award for Best Family Game. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was honored with the awards for Game of the Year, Best Action/Adventure Game and Best Game Direction.

Nintendo Switch is also home to fun multiplayer games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2 and ARMS that can be played online or with friends and family in the same room, as well as an ever-growing list of great third-party games like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, FIFA 18, Rocket League, L.A. Noire, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Golf Story and Stardew Valley, Nintendo Switch is truly for any player.

“As you can see in people’s living rooms, on a plane or riding the subway, fans all over the world can enjoy playing Nintendo Switch wherever they go,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “The response from fans has been great, and we’re doing our very best to satisfy demand during the holiday shopping season.”

After a record-breaking 2017, Nintendo Switch will continue its momentum in 2018. The system will see the launch of Nintendo-published games like Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and a new game in the beloved Yoshi franchise, in addition to big third-party games like Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus from Bethesda, Mega Man 11 from Capcom, PROJECT OCTOPATH TRAVELER (working title) from Square Enix, Shovel Knight: King of Cards from Yacht Club Games and Runner 3 from Choice Provisions.

Nintendo Switch hits 10 million sales worldwide since its launch on 3rd March 2017, with a range of award-winning games including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey already available, with plenty more experiences to come in 2018.

Justin Biebers sold millions as well... there is something that can be said about quantity and quality. But hey ignorance is king to some :-)
That has nothing to do with anything. Justin Bieber makes music, not video games, and the quality of his music is in no way comparable to the quality of Nintendo's games. In ten years, pre-teen girls will be on to their next pretty-boy pop idol, and Nintendo will still be going strong.

Nintendo had solid player bases for everything since the Nintendo 64 console as well, but third parties always dumped it first, because of some stupid business choices *by* Nintendo, that either offend or leave it not worth the effort.

With the 64, it was an 8MB cartridge compared to 700MB's on a CD.
With GameCube, it was 1.4GB mini DVD discs instead of 4.7/8.5GB on a regular DVD disc.
With the Wii, it was motion controls, barely an improvement in computation and standard DVD vs BluRay or double layer dvd.
With the WiiU, the CPU was akin to a PowerMac G3 compared to the modern IBM Power chips in the 360 and Ps3, let alone the AMD chips in the xbone and ps4.
TBH the mini DVDs were big enough. Not many games actually needed more than one disc.
I still can't even find a Nintendo Switch anywhere, much less anyone with one to try out. The closest I've been able to get to handle one, was some used JoyCon controller at GameStop. And i found that way too tiny.

I'm also still upset and angry that Nintendo chose a sealed battery, ensuring that I'm only renting it at $300 a pop, and would probably go through about three or four of them, since the batteries will be gone in a year anyway.

I would have also brought up how ridiculous Nintendo is for charging $70+tax for a real controller for the thing, but thankfully there are several (unintended?) Third party controllers that do the job and don't cost anywhere near that (and fit a lot nicer). But, of course, Nintendo had to require motion controls for its first party games to make you use the JoyCon bits. Almost as bad as the forced motion controls in Star Fox Zero.

Granted, i am fully intending on waiting, until No More Heroes 3 is out; but not even being able to try one out, or any of the existing games, doesn't leave me much else to go on other than "JoyCons are too small".
JoyCons are pretty small, but having silicone grips on them makes a huge difference. It conforms better to the shape of my hands and I really enjoy using the JoyCons with them, I don't think I could go back to using them without grips.
Caps for the analog sticks also help a bit with control, they give the illusion of longer travel so the movements feel slightly more precise.

Switch Tobies have a hard time explaining the success of the Nintendo Switch. Also, Switch sales have once again had a huge explosion in Japan.
I don't know what a Tobie is, but Switch's success is not that complicated. Full console games on a portable is an appealing idea. It's what WiiU should've been in the first place, including the marketing.

I'll keep that in mind for if and when i can get one. Thanks. :)

I just left one Target store in my area (St. Louis). I counted about 25 on the shelves, no telling how many they have in the store room. They also have a giant monitor with a demo unit playing Mario Kart.

Wish I could find a store around here that would demo one. Four different Wal-Marts, at least one Target, three different gamestops, two different best buy locations, and not one even has a Switch system on display, much less available for purchase. Online isn't helping either, since it either lists out of stock, or that "sorry, online ordering not available for this" or some dumb crap. And given the nature of this console, I kinda need to be able to actually handle one before I can make such a purchasing decision.

I wasn't talking about the games (which are great), I was talking about the console. It was already much outdated at launch and it's performance sometimes shows. This year was still ok, but what about the following years... I don't think people just bought a Switch to play it for only two years, did they?
I guess it's really worth waiting for an upgrade, then again... if you're happy with a potato... you're happy with a potato.
You can only push portable performance so far before the battery life is 15 minutes. Switch is the opposite of a potato, it's the most advanced portable ever released, and the most power you can get out of a portable in 2017. 3DS sold what? 70 million? And it's not even half Switch's resolution or clarity.

PS4/XB1 were truly unremarkable this gen, which is why we already have their replacements, Pro/XB1X. They're both still a waste of money next to a gaming PC. Nintendo continues to avoid the rat race altogether, and Sony has already admitted they don't plan to compete with Switch. Leaving Nintendo with exactly zero competitors in most major markets.

I bought my switch, it had a scratch sadly so sending it back.

Anyway, my review of the system as I have a few days to play with it is..

ITS AMAZING.

Literally this is magic. Playing Odyssey on this is a dream.

It kind of reminds me of apple. The power isn't there, the specs aren't the best but omg, is the experience just phenomenal.

The rumble is premium. I know people will laugh at this but it feels so awesome in the opening credits of Mario Odyssey.
The screen I think is great. The Joy cons are just mindblowing to how relaxing gaming can be with arms apart. The ability to play handhed and then place it on a table with the kickstand and carry on is awesome. Then slotting it in to the TV is the icing on the cake.
The menu systems are fluid and beautiful, how easy the joy cons and controllers sync to the system is beyond impressive,

Really I feel like the same kid who opened up his N64 ... haven't had that feeling with any other console.

nintendo NEED this console to get into peoples hands. its the first time ive held one and my god!

Nintendo needs to sell this in 2018. The "pro-joycon experience" for the serious gamer who doesn't want to share with anyone or cramp their hands sideways.
