I've actually only played this game cause Pit reasons.
Go figure...

Anyway, what are your thoughts about the HORRIBLE controls.
I admit, the touchscreen is quicker then a analogue but for one with rheumatism, it's a hell to control.

Well I
Anyway, what are your thoughts about the HORRIBLE controls.
Well while I admit that the only type of shooting games I ever played had 2 analog sticks, this one was very different. I did not use the touch screen. Instead the A,B,X,Y was used to move the character while the analog was used to aim. As i kept playing that way it started to be more playable. My original idea was to use the Circle pad pro.

Had I used this it would be like using twin analog sticks, but I found out that this also made the game have goofy controls. I think the only challenge the game possess (besides is optional difficulty) Is the controls. I will be the first to admit is poorly designed but it's probably cause 3DS just didn't have a more modern controller design before it got circle pad pro or New 3DS.

I thought CPP wasn't even compatible with the game?

3DS is indeed poorly designed.
Even the PSP Go without controller grip is better.

If you check the back of the game box, it will say if it is or not. :P

One of the reason why I bought the circle pad pro was for this game, since the control wasn't as well suited for me, I just didn't use it. I haven't used it for almost any reason. But Not like i need it anymore, I have new 3DS, but the analog stick on that one (The right one) is horrible. Even the psp or vita analog stick is better. The intended way I wanted to play was for the Two analog sticks to move and aim, but I guess having buttons move reminded me of playing with a keyboard which I used to do so long ago when I used to play shockwave flash games online since arrow keys is usually on the right side of the keyboard.

What was your favorite piece of humor from the game?

I guess the game do make efforts to break the 4th wall a bit, maybe some what like deadpool does. The few i remember most is

There is a enemy known as Kyomato in the game which is referenced to Metroids, though is strongly hinted it is inteintionally avoided for the sake of not breaking the 4th wall.

There is a guy name Magnus who helps you at some point in the game, and there is a enemy called Mimicutie. Is basically a imatation treasure chest that walks around on legs and attacks when you try and open it. In one place is very obvious that it is a trap. When you go to open it, Pit gets excited to do so while Magnus says it is a trap. Pit responds with "Is a treasure chest, when I see it, I have to open it, that is what i do" I assume it makes fun of all players' tendency to open treasure chest every time they find one regardless if is a trap or not which I confess that I do in other games that actually do have the same kind of trap, like the mimic in Dragon Quest games.

When you complete chapter 9, you basically defeat Medusa and the game starts playing credits. It is then the game reveals is not over yet and Hades is the true antagnosit and must be defeated. The game continues to the end of chapter 25 when is finally over, the fact that there is 25 chapters and that false ending leads me to belive is related to the 25 years since the NES game was released that I belive is hinted at a 25 year anniversary. It is hard to actually say that cause the game first existice was actually december 1986 on Famicom disc system the making it actually not 25 years but 26 depending on popular opinion. I also don't remember any promotion of it being to celebrate any mile stones either so is probably just a personal speculation.

Then there is a boss character called Thanatos. The game points out the extra "A" in his name. If you play the original nes game, in the manual his name is spelled "Thantos" which may have been a typo. Thanatos is a personifaction of death in Greek Mythology. Is kinda the same type of thing where in Double Dragon Neon, there is two boss characters called Bimmy and Jammy. It was inteinally a joke of a famous typo In Double dragon 3 on NES in the story the character Billy name mispelled Bimmy. :P

It has been a long time since I played it, while I like the game and think is okay, the controls don't really help me motivate to play again unless perhaps they could port it in HD and maybe fix the controls. If i had to pick one, I think the second one with the treasure is my favorite simply cause the game makes a fool out of the player and how the characters' self awareness is openly discussed. The game makes no attempt to hide the self awareness which just makes it all the more entertaining.

Favourite Stage, Track and Character?
Favorite stage is probably stage 9 cause is one of the very few stages you get to uses the sacred angel gear. Favorite character is Hades, he has probably the most humor in the game which reminds me of Hades from the disney hercules movies (Or kingdom hearts, Coincidence? I think not!) Not sure about track, like racing course track or something? I think there was only one stage where you do get into a machine vehicle and drive around a track to progress.

Okay, I've got a weird question...

I watch Yahtsee on a weekly basis, usually unbeknownst of the actual games he talks about. As his (in)famous humour goes, he often points out things either as they literally are or viewed through a sarcastic or cynical world view.

For Kid Icarus, he talks about a side mission where you pay the godess to come closer to you (linky. Of course his conclusion is not what nintendo had in mind with the mission (or side mission). But where I can usually figure out where his way of viewing things isn't the correct one, I really don't get what this is about. So...what is that part about?

There is a option in the game that allows you to offer hearts (Currency to purchase new items) to Palutena. Basically the description says it doesn't do anything of actual use for the player or the characters but on the top screen, Palutena walks closer towards you each time you do offer hearts. I guess as a joke he is referring to her character design and how they animated her walk cycle and the fact you are "Paying" to see her walk which has no real benefit as some kind of sexual innuendo that isn't explained anywhere in the game. Here is a video to explain a bit better. Is not a Side mission, is just a option from the menu screen to do this. I guess nintendo wanted to simulate offerings as a prayer from a beloved goddess idol? I dunno what to tell you, Japan has very different ideas from other places in the world. :P

It is compatible but you can only map it for movement; Can't use one stick to aim and the other to move

If you check the back of the game box, it will say if it is or not. :P

Are these original questions?

  1. PIT
  2. PALUTENA
  3. Pit's voice actor is Anthony del Rio, previously I known him for the voice of Chico, a character in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker which I have on my Metal Gear Solid HD collection. He also voiced a character known as Ripteel on Marvel's Super Hero Squad who transforms into dinosaurs as his super power, which I never heard of before. Originally I was informed he would be voiced by Jonny Yong Bosch who did the voice of Ichigo from Bleach.
  4. No
  5. :teach: (this is all you get for this question)

Is Hades THAT good of a villain ?
In the game or in general media?

In the game, Hades is mostly scripted to have comedic dialog that rivals Pit, he also is the true mastermind behind the whole game, he resurrected the bosses including medusa who was supposed to been defeated in the original NES game, and set forth the whole war that the game story is processed by, took control of Palutena and did way too much for someone who just happens to be the god of death. In my idea, i think he was referenced by the Disney Movie Hercules' Hades with the comedic scripting and the underhanded tactics to achieve his goals. If you compare them two, there is some things common.

I dunno what you mean by "THAT good of a villain" if you mean as a character in the game how well he did his job as antagonist compared to someone like Dr.Wily from mega man or Eggman who are just more like pushovers, then he is a better villain than those two. If you mean by the amount of entertaining humor in the game that he has, then he rivals Pit in some ways. :P
