I just found a way to update my Sysnand N3ds 11.4 USA to 11.6 USA without breaking the backlight control on NTR! And what's more is I can play online now
(Assuming your on 11.4 and below, If you already updated your system to 11.6, Welp there's nothing we can do about it unless you know how to downgrade your N3ds...)
First of all, I made a NAND BACKUP On my N3ds in case something goes wrong.

(Read all of the guides further below before going to the links!)
Next is I went here : https://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/titlelist.php?date=09-18-17_08-00-44&sys=ktr
(For O3ds, I think it's here: https://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/titlelist.php?date=09-18-17_08-00-39&sys=ctr)

Then I looked for all of the updated title IDs of 11.6 (USA Which is the region of my N3ds),
I used My N3ds and FBI and went to "Tickets", then I searched the title IDs(USA)
Then I installed them from CDN(I pressed [A] For DEFAULT VERSION):
(Make sure your N3ds is connected to the internet)

here are the (unnecessary) ones I didn't installed:
1.USA Error Strings
2.mint (eShop applet)
3.Web Browser Data

And here are the ones I installed and updated:
1.CVer
2.friends system-module
3.NS system-module
4.NEW3DS NVer

After done installed, I powered off my N3ds and boot it up again and went to friends list and I'm online!
Then i went to System Settings and I saw I'm on 11.6 USA!
After that, I went to bootntr selector 2.9 and run the 3.6 of it and open the NTR menu and I can see and use the backlight control
And I tried playing games online to see if it's really working and it works!

Hmm, thanks for the info. I'm already on 11.6 but maybe I'll do this eventually. I don't really have the time to downgrade and backup all my data and such right now, but it's nice to know it's possible.

What would be really nice is if we could just get a new update to fix it, but I realise it's not a priority nor typically something easily done.

Hello every one im having some problems trying to run ntr propely
I delete everything form my sd , like Bin files from ntr , plugins everything so i star from 0
I go to the page where i can download ntr mode 3 cuz i want to run MHStories i install the files both normal ntr and mode 3 , then i open the normal one and choose default setings , and turn off the console then open the mode 3 and do the same , when it loads the 3.6 , the i press home and choose the Game i dont get the green flashlight like before in game i can press x +y and get the menu but no te Cheat menu
Im on 11.6 OLD3DS and the last Luma Build
I put the plugins on the right spot sd/plugins but is not working can someone helpme ?

1.Is your plugin is in the appropriate folder?(title ID for USA , JP or EUR?)
2.Is your plugin size is less than 300kb?
Cuz MH Stories is an Extended Memory Mode Game so you need a Mode-3 plugin(the less than 300kb sized plugin) For OLD3DS.

Yea i put the plugin folder on the root of the SD , has the correct ID for my USA Game letme check the size from the plg file

Edit: it has 1.4 mb size

the thing is i dont have a problem before with MHXX and other games , before update my system , i has 11.4 and luma 6.0 this happend when i update all my stuff , i try to use other games like mhxx , legend of zelda , and the ntr didnt load the cheats this was after update all idk what is happening

Did you immediately close the mode3 thing or did you directly switch to MHS?

Idk if i am doing something wrong, but, i am using this program's mode 3 version, and everytime i open it with mario maker on my old 3ds, it crashes and i am forced to shutdown my 3ds.

I only installed 2.9 version of it, nothing more.

How to solve that?

So I'm literally getting a crash dump every time I try to run this on story of seasons trio of towns can anyone help.
I wasn't having this problem on 11.5.

okay so I've tried just about everything and it stills crashes i have no idea what is going on but I'm slowly starting to get annoyed.
I've deleted the correct folders but it just keeps happening.

Could you fork the repo for this "Rosalina fix" like you did with JKSM? It was an awesome job.
Or at least hint about what needs to be edited, so me or others can mantain it. @phalk

EDIT: my mistake. Actually the 2.9 3dsx by Nanquitas works just fine with Rosalina, I was having another problem with Luma.

After not using my N3DS for ages and the latest selectable NTR being 3.4, I updated to 2.9 today. Path is set as default and my plugin folder is on the root of the SD like it used to be. Now the issue is that I tried both Ultra Moon and MH Stories but on neither I got the plugin/cheats option when I press Y+X on 3.2, 3.3 or 3.6. Am I missing something?

Are you using the mode3 of BootNTR Selector cuz that’s what you need for those games to work. They are extended memory games so you have to use mode3 for those plugins to work on o3ds’

Oh, I forgot to clarify that it's a N3DS XL not an O3DS. Gonna edit that in.

have you tried pressing the `select` button? most cheats now a days uses `select` to view the cheat menu

there is no way to use with citra? (my 3ds is sent in to nintendo because the screen is broken...i am hacking it afterwards)

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask but I get exception errors/crash dump when I try to launch this before specific games (fe awakening and fates SE)

I have hacks for both games and I'm using o3ds and bootntr selector updated to version 2.9 if that helps (idk what more info I need to write).

EDITL: nvm, it turns out I had the wrong file in the wrong folder
