i dont care for it much either but it would be nice

yeah I am not quite sure why they are working on the switch when the xbox one currently has homebrew that is more accessible. even if I buy the switch, I wont homebrew it at this point because I would be missing out on all the content later on (virtual console, new games that require later updates).

So I guess that means no plans for retroarch on xbox one anytime soon?

Edit: To clarify, I understand why switch might be a better value for homebrew later on, and it is probably much more popular worldwide, but it is also very early that I do not think Nintendo will let homebrew pass, at this point it would make more sense to port it to ps4.

To be quite honest I'm perfectly content with RetriX and the many libretro cores that it already supports. Before that vote happened a couple weeks ago @ploggy had brought it to my attention that Twinpahex was considering an "official" retroarch port for Xbox One and that he was intending on getting an Xbox One with Dev mode. However since Switch won that port is probably delayed at best and it may not happen now. Even if it doesn't at the end of the day we still have RetriX which is a fine front-end to libretro imo

so if Nintendo releases more software later (like n64 support or something), would you be able to update your console even if it is homebrewed?

How strong is the switch? can it run like dolphin and citra? can it run something like ps1 core?

Probably not if you care about homebrew. The general rule is stay as low as you can or on the firmware of the exploit (In this case 3.0)

It's basically a supped up Android Tablet. If Dolphin were optimized for the Switch yes it could run on the hardware although I don't expect everything to run well. Citra (Maybe?) I honestly don't know. Citra is a very new emulator and I'm unsure if the hardware could handle it. And yes PS1 is possible through Retroarch and the beetlepsx core

no as retro arch allows n64 emulation

I was using n64 emulation as example, what I meant to say is if Nintendo adds more features to the switch. would you be able to get these features if you are in cfw this early, or would you not?

right, so if that was the case. why develop homebrew the switch right now when it has been less than a year since its launch, and most likely most of its features are not already out. Meanwhile the xbox one doesn't require to cfw your console at all to run homebrew.

I am fine with people developing homebrew for whatever system they want, I am just wondering if there is a reason that I am not seeing for why people seem to be in a rush to develop homebrew for switch. when both the ps4, and xbox one are older and have had access for homebrew.
