Question No auto-redirect to https?

They probably just have to configure the server to redirect to HTTPS.

Personally I just use HTTPS everywhere since I've had this issue on other sites as well.

It has been asked a few times before, though not on this page of suggestions so that is OK (how one would search for that with the limitations I do not know).

It is a deliberate choice. There for those that want it, not autoredirect for those that can't have it (for instance those behind the great firewall, like those in China where they make a sizeable portion of the mod chips, hacks and flash carts) and for those that truly care (it is just a forum after all) there is https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere .
