Idk the dpad missing its middle pivot makes it more difficult to get accurate inputs when they are really crucial. Don't know why so many people seem to think it's fine. Have they never felt a proper dpad, or maybe they don't game enough to realize the difference between the center pivot of older controllers versus a flat dpad. Go between an older Nintendo dpad and the current pro controller. You should feel a fairly dramatic difference between the two in terms of precise directional input.
this is a weird argument, sony controllers have neved had a D-pad the middle area is missing i hate it yet i've never heard anyone complain.
the d-pad on both the wii u pro controller and the switch pro controller both aren't that good and are the same the switch pro controller is better in many other ways.
like texture, thumbstick placement, weight and just how well it works.
that said i disagree with mech and think nintendo might make the wii u pro controller compatible with the switch they've been doing everything else right so far, gamecube compatibility was a complete surprise and they made no money off that.

I think most people don’t use the Dpad enough to be bothered about it. Most modern games use it just to select somthing on a menu in game, just pressing one direction at a time.

yeah they made money off it three years ago these things have been discontinued for ages, brand new gamecube controllers are now nearing $100 up from their $30MSRP
they made money off the wii u pro controllers years ago too so by your logic the wii u pro controller should be made compatible.

They won’t do it unless they make some money on it, no logic in it when they are selling switch pro controllers like hot cakes.

How funny would it be if nintendo started making bluetooth gamecube controllers? Backwards compatible with WII U, wii and even gamecube (wired or with a receiver) and pc. Then maybe people can use it on like anything. I kinda found how weird it is to have wii u support WII games but no way to use gamecube controller for games like Smash bros, brawl, and other games with those inputs. Would be nice, to have sonic colors, and sonic riders playable with that controller. :ninja:

Honestly, while is some very nice news, I wish nintendo just actually add it to the change log, I hate how devs keep putting stuff in and then people would never know unless they just got too curious or they make a big reveal video/production about it. That be like switch having USB HDD support or something in 4.0.1 then like 4 months later, having a announcement about it, kinda like capcom did with shin akuma in ultra street fighter 2 on switch. Sometimes I'm glad for people finding this information, maybe it would encourage people to actually put details in their change log :glare:

So if I go buy a GameCube pad I can just use it with the switch? Plugs strait in?
are you not listening? nintendo doesn't make any money off of that, the adapter has been sold out everywhere discontinued for well over a year and was only $20 when it was sold.
you can still go buy a brand new wii u pro controller for $50 at gamestop right now nintendo would make money.
your argument goes against what you are saying entirely. at this point you aren't even arguing with me you're arguing with yourself while i'm trying to translate it into a comprehensible language for you.

and also just update my launch day 1.0 switch for this momentous occasion.
By the time homebrew is out for the Switch there aren't going to be many Switches capable of running it.

Not going to happen, the switch pro controller is better in every way.
I don't think so. I was in love at first touch with the Wii U Pro Controller.

i don't even care about switch homebrew, homebrew wasn't worth it anymore the second everyones 3DS's got banned. i don't even know why i had homebrew i purchased every game and piracy was the main selling point.

also have you tried the switch pro controller it is the same yet much better.

They will probably bring the adaptor back into stock.

Just checked and it doesn't work for me.
Official GC adapter for Wii U with unofficial wireless GC Controller.
EDIT: For clarification it works perfectly on Wii U with Smash, Nintendont and HIDtoVPAD

Probably a stupid question but did you try all the usb ports on the dock? I mean the person in the game explain video never did specify but maybe it didn't matter, but I wouldn't know, I don't have one. I been using my dualshock 4 on the switch. :P

I have two but still prefer the Wii U Pro Controller. Each to his own I guess.

I must be really odd, I prefer different controllers per game; Mario Kart 8/bomberman/sonic mania, the pokken controller; breath of the wild, wii u pro controller; Fast Racing Neo, guessing I will lean towards gamecube.

getting the gamecube controller adapter to work took me like 30 minutes... I'm not even exactly sure what finally did get it working...
either way here is what I have set:
rumble: on
USB Pro: on
had two gc controllers plugged in at the time it started working.
tried going into calibration screens and got nothing.
went into controllers and tried making it work... press l and r and get nothing.
When it finally started working it was after going into the find your controller option. I selected some of my other controllers and made them buzz/rumble and then then the adapter decided it was going to work... weird.

The gray USB is for the rumble feature for wired gamecube controllers. Not sure it will work on the Switch or if the gray USB is needed or not.

I'm on 4.0 and I tried on the "Press L+R on the controller you want to use", the "Find a controller" and the "Other pair options" screens and the dongle of my GC controller doesn't light up so I can't connect it

Yep I did try the three USB ports on the dock, I even switched the position of the USB cables of the adapter and it still won't work. Also wtf can we use DS4 on switch?

Mine doesn't want to work, it seems I got a lazy one

Edit: Ok, for some reason now it works after I went to the "Search my controllers" section, wtf I literally tried that before for minutes with no results

Edit 2: So I went to the button test option and tested what buttons on the GC controller were registred as what buttons on a Pro controller:

Gamecube : Pro controller
A : A
B : B
X : X
Y : Y
L : L
R : R
Z : ZR
START : (nothing, may be an issue of my controller)
Dpad : Dpad
