always the same problem, i prepare the sd, inject iso, install the wud, and when i want to launch, black screen with "WII" in white and the console reboot :/

Did you installed the game on an usb hardisk? You could try installing the game on internal storage instead and try opening the game see if it works.

Some usb hardisks won't works for Wii VC games as they never stay active after Wii U reboot when Wii VC games are opened.

Afaik you can't use redNand to play Wii VC (and therefore gamecube injections)
What am I missing?

I have CBHC autoboot to system menu, the wiiu usb helper formatted sd card with boot.dol and nincfg.bin, created the install files (The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time-Master Quest [00050000FF343345]) from iso that I then installed on the nand... I get error code: 199-9999 (see attachment)

I was trying to convert the Pokemon XD iso (EUR), but i'm stuck in this error:

Error.jpg

Already tried two different iso, any suggestions? Thanks in advance :)

EDIT 1:
I tried to run some of GC installed games, but no one starts. After selecting "Yes" for using gamepad, the banner of the game appears; after it, just black screen (and in this state the Wii U does not reboot even keeping pressing the power button).
I think the roms are legit, and I just followed all the steps (including the preparation of the SD with nintendont files).
I have a Wii U with CBHC, and all roms are PAL EUR (same region of the console).
what am I doing wrong? Thanks again :)

EDIT 2:
I've installed the Nintendont forwarder, when I launch it the Wii symbol appears, then just black screen.

EDIT 3:
I've installed the forwarder into the internal storage instead of USB and nintendont starts, so unfortunately the problem is my USB drive (unfortunately because I have the 8GB Wii U, so I cant install these GC injections in NAND).

I adore this program.

I’ve used the GC injection feature a tremendous amount lately. However, as of yesterday it doesn’t work on my WiiU. Namely Strikers and party7. Every title for US I have installed and successfully launched/played. But those two titles, which are the most recent, won’t.

I install using wup installer gx and launch. The splash screen comes up for the particular title, the Wii logo comes on then the screen goes black. With stickers the Wii U will actually just shut down.

Anyone else getting this?

Edit: installing the problem title on nand produces a Wii U system error when launching the game, 199-9999.

@Hikari06 loving the Wii VC inject btw, works great and I really appreciate all the work you are doing, and have done so far! :)

I do have a bit of constructive feedback:
- any chance for wbfs file support? as all my Wii games are in that format (not a huge deal, as converting it back to iso/cios worked fine)
- Is it possible for you to add the VC title banner to the icons? For both GCN and Wii titles.
- The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures tooltip has the title name with an extra character return in it, so there's a blank line.
- Could you add support for the Gamepad for the Wii games that support the classic controller or gamecube controllers? (Like Muramasa) list is here: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/WiiU_VC_Wii_inject_compatibility_list

Edit: installing the problem title on nand produces a Wii U system error when launching the game, 199-9999.

First it appears GC injections cannot be installed to NAND, in fact they all show the 199-9999 error code.
After some research, I have determined the cause of the issue was the titleid generated by USB Helper, which for some reason cannot be launched from NAND but can be launched from USB.
The latest version of the application will patch the titleid on the fly to avoid the issue.
Please note that the titleid displayed in USB Helper will not change to avoid creating confusion, since the app indexes games by their title id and changing it would mean the app would think those are new entries.
So to install to sysNAND, delete the game on your WiiU. Close and restart USB Helper so it can update, then build your game again.

Regarding Mrmagillicutti's issue, that's weird, I have not changed anything in particular for those two titles and I have not been able to reproduce the issue with freshly built games.
That's said I have received a few other reports like yours.

  • GameCube games get stuck at the Wii logo or on a blackscreen.
  • Very rarely the games lunch once but they fail to boot the next time
  • All the reports seem to indicate that people were using an external usb hard drive.

Unfortunately although I have installed each GameCube game available on USB Helper on my own console, I have never had any issue like this. (I am using a USB flash drive to install the games by the way).

So the logical conclusion would be to think that, as pointed out before, some usb hard drives might not be compatible with this system. That would however not explain why it worked for you before (could you try with a usb flash drive just to make sure?).

Unfortunately, if that is the case, I am not sure what I could do to help since this would probably require tinkering with the fw.img image, and I'm not qualified to do it.

For all I know it could also be an issue with Nintendont. Perhaps someone with the issue could try with another sd card, freshly formatted and only containing the files produced by the "Prepare my SD" button ?

1-Wbfs support has been added to the latest revision of the app
2-I really do prefer the icons without it since I believe this way the games feel like they were designed for the WiiU, which is what I am trying to achieve with the custom splash screens and boot sounds. Perhaps I will add an option to apply the overlay in a future revision though.
3-I think this was addressed, do you remember when you built the title?
4-This was indeed an oversight, support was added in the latest revision of the app(NOTE : while testing I had to remove the previously installed version before installing the new one otherwise it would show a '?' icon)

I tried this with Kirby air ride and it worked perfectly.

1 - great news! I'll give it a try.
2 - I would like that, honestly :)
3 - I think it was when you first release it. I'll delete the title and re-create it in wiiu helper.
4 - Great, I'll give it a try!

So I've installed a few Gcn games, running them off USB with Haxchi. About 50% of the time, launching the game will hard freeze the Wii U, and not even holding the power button turns it off. I tried launching from Nintendont (on the Wiiu home screen), and upon pressing Home to exit the game, it hard froze again. Is there a solution to this?

Hello - I closed the application, reopened, rebuilt Mario Strikers, put it on SD, deleted the original install off wii u and installed on NAND. It still gives me that weird error.

I would note that the release notes on my Wii U USB Helper stop at 0.6.1.344 -- perhaps the update isn't available yet?

I will try using a regular USB flash drive to test. Also i will re-prepare the SD.

Edit: Used a 16GB and 8GB usb flash drives from PNY and SanDisk. Both resulted in the system turning off. Flashing an orange light a few times and then displaying a red light on the console its self.

edit2: rebuilding the SD didn't work for me either. I closed the application a few times and restarted it. the download button now blinks and there is an icon next to each thing int he download queue. change-log hasn't changed and rebuilding Mario Strikers, installing to NAND still doesn't work. sad that it hates me. =[

edit v3.0: I haven't modified my vWii. In fact i've never booted into it ever. I only did Wii U and VC stuff. I just used my GC IOSs on Wii U USB Helper, did prepare my SD and played. Obviously worked up until now. However, do you think that might help? I started thinking about this, because i don't even know how to boot nintendont on its own to play these titles sans forwarder. I still wanted to play this damned Strikers game even if i cant use the sexy forwarder.

The application does download the different resources (tga, btsdn) but it can only do so for title I have prepared. There is no way to 'generate' them out of nothing and, consequently, I have to design for each title, the images and sounds.
So you can only inject games that show up in the application. I add new entries regularly but it's a lengthy process so please be patient.

So it appears once again that the title id format that I chose does not allow to launch the games if a USB drive is plugged in (what the hell...) I did not realize that when testing since my usb drive was not plugged in....
So, at last, I have chosen to use the default title id format in v420, which should be compatible with every scenario.
I wanted to avoid it to prevent possible collisions with already existing titles but from what I can tell it should be alright for now since no existing titleid appear to overlap.

Just a question, do the gc titles that you have installed first still work?

I had black screen issue with nintendont forwarder installed on USB (same issue with GC injection installed on USB), but once I've installed it on nand it worked perfectly (I played some GC games from SD).
I think that probably even the GC injections would work on nand (but I can't try due to low memory left), the problem should be a suspect incompatibility of nintendont with certain USB drives.

The two titles i have been regularly testing still work yes. Every titles i have installed via USB. I was only trying Strikers and Mario Party 7 since these were not working on USB.

I failed to realize that the version number is in the title/window bar of the program. I kept looking in the changelog for update notes/version change. Thats my bad. i do see that im on .420. I'm rebuilding both of those titles now, i will report back my findings.

Thanks so much for checking these issues out for me!

EDIT: welp. Mario Party 7 and Mario Strikers launch from NAND now with out error. However, its the same issue as on the USB; the system turns off or locks up after the Wii logo is displayed. So these wont launch installed on USB or NAND. Im guessing im solo on this issue since no one else has really said anything in this thread. Im going to see how to launch from nintendont and see if it works that way.

I had black screen issue with nintendont forwarder installed on USB (same issue with GC injection installed on USB), but once I've installed it on nand it worked perfectly (I played some GC games from SD).

Yeah. I was getting a system error when installing the injections to NAND. He mentioned that the new build of helper should have that sorted out. About to try it.

whenever I try to make the Game Cube games when it is on repacking there is an error that says there is no output folder and stops.

EDIT: uploaded a screen cap of the error message, any help would be appreciated.
