So i've purchased a used console fairly cheap and i'd like to get up to date in some things

What i could find so far, its Running UnleashX 0.38.0515A Build 565 alongside a stock HDD, the seller made clear it came with the factory drive. Memory settings lists around 5 gigs of space.

So here are the questions:

1.-Can i remove the clock capacitor with the current dashboard?

2.-How do i get started in tsop flashing?, whats the advantage over the softmod i currently have? * I have a 1.0 Motherboard

3.- Wich dashboard is considered the best?

4.-If i want to swap the hdd , what do i have to do ?

5.- Best way to transfer files to the console ?

Thank you if you can give me some answers

1.Yes do it now
2.If you only want to play games a softmod is enough. (advantage over a softmod hdd doesn't need to get locked and if you still want to do it look in my xbox hacking guide)
3.There is no "best" dashboard just choose the one you like the most.
4.Look in the xbox hacking guide for that
5.A direct FTP connection

1) If your capacitor is good, you can leave it or you could choose removing the capacitor. It is to prevent nasty acidic fluid leak around the mainboard. Or you could replace it with the same UF good quality capacitor. It's important you determine which version your original Xbox is. This is because different versions of console have different motherboard layouts, and you don't want to go removing the wrong capacitor!

2) The advantage over softmod is that xbox with TSOP or modchips install do not need a locked hdd to function. Easy HDD replacement.

3) I would recommend XBMC because support of usb drive, Second Unleashx because of the good file explorer and then evolutionx dashboard.

4) Gbatemp got tutorial for that.

5) You can use my method listing in this forum thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/alterna...nal-xbox-to-pc-using-normal-lan-cable.486614/

Hope this will help you.

At least, let people have their on choice of whether to remove or get a new good capacitor replacement. Don't make decision for people or call them stupid. People are here for advice and tip. Regards.

And if you would replace it it would leak again that is why you should replace it with a battery if you want.
