Recently I've been trying to install B9S from A9LH on my Old 3DS. I'm pretty sure I've done everything correct, in terms of putting the required files on to my SD card and in their correct places. However when I put the SD card into my 3DS, hold start and boot I get nothing just a black screen. I've tried countless times of replacing files and such but still nothing.

What's inside your Luma/payloads folder? And what's inside the boot9strap folder? You still need the arm9loaderhax.bin on your SD card until you successfully install B9S, maybe you deleted it?

Does the blue light blink on then off? What happens if you boot without the SD card in?

The light doesn't blink at all and when I boot without the SD card inserted its fine.

In my Luma/payloads folder I have GodMode9.firm & start_SafeB9SInstaller.bin and for the boot9strap folder I have boot9strap.firm & boot9strap.firm.sha

Okay and you're 100% sure you have the arm9loaderhax.bin on the root as well? If so, do me a favor and delete it (move it to your PC), then take the "start_SafeB9SInstaller.bin" and rename it to "arm9loaderhax.bin" and put it on the root of your SD and restart the console.

Hold Select on boot with SD card. What Luma version does it say? Download this version and put it on your SD card. https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
