I was wondering as I know that games on the new 3DS still run if poorly on an underclocked new 3DS. Is it possible to install games like Minecraft on the old systems?

I don't think it's even possible, but even if someone found a way they would run unplayably slow

All i can tell you is try but i don't think it will even run but if i was you i would have a nand backup just incase. I have the game on my new 3ds xl and i can say that you need the extra joystick that the new 3ds xl or new 2ds xl has just to play the game. I don't know if you can remap or not but even if you can i don't even think it would boot up on an old 3ds.

Yeah I can see it would run slowly as it does if I underclocked my N3DSXL but I was wondering if it could be done as a curio.

Those tests are interesting, but they don't fully show that the O3DS only has 2 cores, vs 4 core N3DS. And they don't show 128MB RAM of O3DS vs 256MB of N3DS.

I asked similar question to this a week or so ago. I think those games can be installed on O3DS, but they won't start up. I was curious as well, to know if installing these games on O3DS could, for example, brick the console or something.....

No this won‘t work and probably never will. All videos of it running are just showing an underclocked n3ds. Booting the game on o3ds is not possible.
I would guess that the gamecode is trying to assign the processes on different nonexisting cores and this results in a crash. Or the cpu refuses to run the code because of missing instructions (and crashes).

In both cases it needs a rewrite of the executable to get it working on a o3ds.

you wont brick and they wont run . . . try it . . . also it is theoretically possible to boot the games on o3ds it would require highly modified roms . . . the "test(s)" you have seen are just to prove how very pointless it would be to put in the time and effort

Well yeah, I never said I expect it to brick. But after hearing about the original wii can brick with a "banner brick", I wouldn't have liked to chance it
naw i totally understand being "cautious" when i first started with 3dscfw i would not install dsiware games because they install to the nand . . . its just that caution has changed over the years

with bs9 you can fix most bricks
and with a flashcard you can fix nearly any brick
so the new cautious is to make a nand backup then you can tinker to your hearts content and if you brick you can fix it

some people . . . like me have more fun just messing with the 3ds than playing games on it

Possible, but not practical. Remember how shit Hyrule Warriors is on the O3DS.
