I'll agree the hardware is solid and yes you could flash a custom rom, but honestly I'd rather just get something with pure android out of the box (in case you haven't noticed, I prefer pure android only). I'd argue over the bloat, but that's not what this thread is about. Also if I had to pick any Android phone as of today it would be the essential in a heartbeat. Maybe the pixel 2 can take that crown back.
Eh. I do like stock Android, but modern Samsung devices are much better bloat-wise than they used to. What I liked about the Nexus line, the Pixel line took away, though. The affordability.

I have the LG V10 and love it.. never upgraded to the V20, but heard it's pretty good. I got in during the launch window of the V10 and they were offering a promo where they gave you a 200gb sandisk microsd card, spare battery, and charging cradle. A lot of people complain about bootloop issues on LG devices, but I've never experienced any.

LeEco is one of the most powerful brands which release powerful stuff for less.
Also Xiaomi has some good phones.

thats what i mean all other androids had sd till nexus and pixel google removed them and miracast on their "flagship" devices
It doesn't really bother me too much, even though it is a shame, given how they are THE stock Android devices out there, and the reference models, I suppose. A microSD slot can greatly increase the lifespan of a smartphone. I know 16GB on my Nexus 4 was too little. My S2 also had 16GB, but a 32GB micro SD made it so much better. The Nexus line was significantly cheaper than the Pixel one, though. That's what bothers me, really.
