Hello, I've just installed the Modchip :).
It shows the correct led color and when pressing [START] it show Xeno GC Shell, so thats fine.
Now I've got a Vebratim 8cm [DVD-R] and burned a Iso IMG on it. But no succsses.
Then I've used a random 4,7 GB DVD+R RW

So after googling im still not defintely sure what to do now.
Whats the reason for these called laser tweaking?
Will it make my burned copies work?

Both no result (Original Games work just fine !)

I believe try Dvd+r's as I think they worked the best for gamecube.

I also THINK that the right pot for the laser was around 144 or so. Lower for stronger laser, higher for less?

Use a multimeter to check it, which should only be around 10/15 bucks.

And if you REALLY can, try using those mini Ritek discs. Maybe order some online. I remember those being the best choice for GC Games at the time years ago.

saddly to say.... gc lens are very picky about what media do you use
btw, i'm having sucess with 8cm Kodak DVD-R and 8cm Emtec DVD-R, like 7/10 burned medias

about the lens calibration.... im using about 150~200ohms in the pot... should be enough

but mess with the POT is dangerous if you dont know what you are doing... be careful

Yeah I guess I'll lower the "resistance" or what you call it like about 20 everytime and then try my disc, if its not working i'll go lower. Guess thats the best option. I mean I guess The GC reads every disc it probably just dont work because you didnt adjust the laser for the dvd?

pretty much.... i've tested many times the POT with many media brands... sometimes a little tweak do the job

SD loading still runs the game from dvd, so it matters not. Infact, I'd say Xeno is better because you can't lose the chip by accident.

Loading ISO's from sd though, it runs bad.... really freaking bad.

Never use + media. It's always minus - you use on a console.

Ritek G04 dark purple dye (Ridata give the best results) @2x. Philips are known to work too @2x. In my experience, the past 15 years, the darker Ritek have produced best results and this has been done on 50 or so cubes over the years, including the 7 I have now.

These discs never failed me: https://m.ebay.com/itm/10-Ridata-4X...%3Aadd8588e15e0abc2c676921effe123b2%7Ciid%3A3

I have never had a disc burnt @4x or more give 100% results, as they always DRE at some point. 2x have been perfect from start to finish.

Every GC is different and has one of the most picky bastard of a console laser, so you have to find the sweet spot yourself using a multimeter.

here fucking here, after having so much issue with gamecube games on the gc system, gc games over usb is much better and so much cheaper and easier.
