This card exists for one simple reason: people who do not have access to a cfw 3ds to set up a ntrboot card themselves, or knowing anyone who can. It's just a pre-made ntrboot card, nothing more. I wonder how anyone could not see this right from the beginning
You don't need a CFW 3DS with the R4i GOLD RTS and it still can be used as a NDS flashcard for the same price.
I wonder how anyone could make such comment without knowing this...

Damn you're right. I could swear that in the beginning it clearly said you need a CFW'd 3DS to begin with. But maybe because in the beginning ntrboot was only compatible with now-blocked DS Flashcards that you need to unblock on a CFW 3DS first, and now it is also compatible with DS flashcards that run on latest versions?

Expect that’s not true anymore. You can flash the R4i Gold on stock OFW using the nds format flasher. And again, the R4i Gold can be flashed back to play DS games.

It used to require a CFW to flash the cart, but things have changed.

(Delayed reply due to work, sorry about that.)

No in the beginning the flasher was only a firm file so you needed a CFW 3DS, nothing to do with the flashcard being blocked or not. Then someone made a nds flasher that works on NDS/L/i and 3DS. Of course for this flasher to work you need your flashcard not being blocked.

Alright, thanks for laying this out. But still, this card here is nothing more than a pre-flashed ntrboot card and simply not worth more than any other card that runs on newest firmware, it only saves you like 3 minutes of work.

Well, turns out I have, coincidentally, both an Ak2i 3DS which I don't use anymore, as well as an R4i Gold RTS, so I should be fine for the upcoming SNES N3DS XL edition.

Cool, I kept reading like 3 different answers to that I wanted at least one physical test for conformation.

With that said, then the cart is a complete ripoff if you can only use to install B9S. There's no reason to invest in a single function cart unless you are intending to setup shop and flash more systems. Otherwise without any other function for this cart, then there's no reason to keep it.
I won it from the giveaway, so not really a ripoff.

Getting it for free is how it should be! ;O;
BTW it dawned on me this morning that this is just a pre-flashed R4i-SDHC cart. In theory we could just dump the flash and restored it to stock R4i-SDHC or vise-versa.
Also they removed the name drop from their site

So I sat and thought this over, then brought this up in my private group chat, but I feel like bringing up here.
So this cart is just a reflashed R4i-SDHC with a different sticker. So in theory we should just able able to do a lot more with it.
1: Dump the flash and restore it to a stock R4i-SDHC (cheaper cart) and turn that one into an R4i-B9S
2: Dump the stock (cheaper) and restore the flash on the R4i-B9S, turning it back into a functioning cart.
They are both the same hardware, we just need a means of dumping/restoring the flash.

probbably as they were getting mails from quite a few memebrs saying "do Not suggest GBATemp" (myself included) because they refuse to take down Rom site links on that contest page, and because of that !: mods are sick of seeing the spam (they get deleted preety Quick,) 2: users linking to that page, could get Warned possibly suspended for a short time bcause of the "No Warez/Rom" policy.
Edit: the only places likely to Not Lock/delete said Advert spam posts would be places like That ISO site and that Chaos site.

I actually don't see the spam happening on That Chaos site, although I am pretty sure they banned the spam as well.

i only assumed as an example Rule Wise, since ya knwo them being Piracy sites the part that the Giveaway page linking other rom sites, wouldnt be what gets it closed/deleted. (though if anything maybe similar sites have a post "Thread" for this to cut down on it?) but ontopic, for those who Have thier Mits on the card as it seems obvious this is just a Reflashed card, is that of they can manage to peel back the case (most carts i've seen are kinda Snap-together w/ pegs holding it in place) to see of theres a hidden MicroSD Slot inside.

Not to mention they could test my previous post

In theory if this is true, someone could just dump/upload the flash, allowing us buy the cheaper cart and reflash it to be an R4i-B9S cart. Which could basically completely destroy the overall "market value" of their shitty rebranded shit.

OP is a reseller.... duh
This conversation stopped being about the OP pages ago. Now we are just using this thread to talk about the R4i-B9S without making another thread to prevent giving them more attention.
It's beneficial for everyone. We talk smack about this cart and they don't get anymore attention for their shitty product.

kinda a shame in retrospect decent card teams went the way of the dinosaur when they couldn't overcome certain updates, (like the AceKard team, the AK2i has been one of the best cards i've had almost indestructible )

It is sad because Ak2i team really only needed to a slight hardware update in order to bypass the updates. They died due to a mix of pride and cheapness.
