The incredible sales success of the Switch has masked a few irksome issues people have with the console, one of the most pressing being the lack of any video streaming capabilities, despite it being the perfect tool for portable binge-watching.

However, if a fresh rumour is to be believed, this won't be the case for much longer. Apparently, a Netflix sales representative has revealed that the company's Switch app is "locked and loaded" and all that is preventing a release is the go-ahead from Nintendo itself.

Naturally, without any official confirmation from either Netflix or Nintendo we have to take this rumour with a pinch of salt, but surely it's a matter of 'when' rather than 'if' regarding Netflix's arrival on the hybrid system.

Just give me the stupid internet browser Nintendo, for fuck's sake.
Enough with your motherfucking exploit paranoia, you will get your ass hacked either way.

With the internet browser I could get around the lack of games I care about for the console. XD

(and not shitty console youtube, i want comments too!)

That can easily be solved. Connect the TV version of YouTube to your account, navigate with your phone and push videos to your console, you can read and reply to comments on your phone while the video plays on your TV.

Surprised, I expected more 'I don't need this therefore so don't you' or 'this is pointless' comments.

I find it weird just because it already contains a web browser we can access and exploit.

Not having a full web browser because of security at this point is like complaining about locked doors while having a hole in the wall.

Well, the problem here is not the lack of a browser, because we do have one, but accessing it is not really in the best interest of the overall consumer.
Remember that since 3.0.0, the browser is now incapable of playing MP4 media, which is what YouTube used, so yeah no access Youtube anymore for those in 3.0.0.
Also, by having the internet browser we could watch streams and other videos and media by just using the damn browser like we did in the Wii U. including both Youtube and Netflix online

The problem here is that Nintendo is surely holding off all of the apps we saw on both the Wii, Wii U and 3DS, like Netflix, Youtube, browser from the get go and some others, because they fear those apps might be used for potential entry points to the system.

A clear example of this all of the webkit exploit from both the Wii U and 3DS, and the Tubehax exploit in the 3DS.

Nintendo is not releasing any of this shit out of fear.
They don't want the Switch to get exploited, but at what cost?
Holding off applications and features which should have been in the console from day one and limiting the overall consumer to just playing games and that's it?

I'm sorry, but Nintendo is maybe really stupid decisions in this regard.
The fear the inevitable, the Switch will get hacked either way, no matter what safety measure they use against hackers.

4K streaming or are the Switch docks locked to 1080p? We all know that the Tegra used in the Switch is more than capable of 4K video playing.
The Switch using Tegra X1 is more than capable of 4K @ 60fps, but as far as I know, the dock is limited to HDMI 1.4 specs, which supports 4K @ 30fps but no higher.

4K @ 30fpos isnt bad. No different then the Fire TV. Again this makes me ask why the hell isnt Nintendo touting the Switch's 4K streaming ability. Hell, they could be selling a cloud 4K option for their games for the price of 10-20 dollars more and I'm sure people would eat it up!

Switch is 1080p@60 FPS max, which was chosen over the ability to do 4K@30 FPS. I'm glad they went with that over the other option: 4K@30 video, but 1080p@30 max for games. Obviously Switch's screen isn't 4K, and most people still don't have 4K TVs. Also, Switch is gaming-focused.

I don't "need" Netflix on Switch, that doesn't mean I'd mind having it available there. Streaming was always going to come later.

Voice chat all over again. Once again, how would that work when playing in handheld?
