Well Im screwed,updated when I got Splatoon 2 the other day. Cant really afford it right now,but should I wait and see or get another Switch?

Also just thought I'd add one thing I've seen on the forums which I don't like seeing is when people say "just update your console as we haven't heard anything" - the golden rule for this is ignore people like this. The lower your firmware the better chance you have of being on a hackable firmware.

Words of wisdom. The thing is, someone has to choose his side. Either you stay on lower firmware, thus giving up on online gaming and the newest games, but the reward being eventual access to homebrew, or you keep yourself updated to the latest firmware and have immediate access to online gaming and the newest releases, but no homebrew in the near future. The logical thing to do if you want both is to buy a second console, but it's a bit on the expensive side for a hobby.

Even with Homebrew we will be locked at 3.0 right? We cant just use emunand because of efuse. So this means we will never can play new games.

As stated above, I'm sure someone will find away around the efuse. With BOTW, you can still play it on lower firmware if you get the cartridge, it's just the matter of if you want to use the DLC or not. Unfortunately/fortunately for me, I did get the DLC and I was able to install it for the Season Pass #1, but when it comes to the other DLC coming out I think in december, I wont be able to use it. At least I get half of what I paid for I suppose.
AFAIK efuse firmware check only occurs at boot, so in theory we could launch emuNAND without rebooting we may be able to have updated emuNAND without a panic. I could be completely wrong though.
Correct, but that's if the updated EmuNAND would be compatible with the older SysNAND bootloader and FIRM's.
I'd recommend not waiting/hoping on 3.0.1 getting openned any time soon.

all in all this exploit could lead to nothing, i saw it with the ps4 way back when, all it amounted to was turning the ps4 into a steam machine without drivers. until people have video of running code dont get your hopes up
I'm glad I have two unopened switches in the closet. One is a present for Christmas and one is mine, just waiting for the day that hacks are available. I have so many 3ds games, it would take years to play them all, so waiting is no problem.
Considering buying a second switc off the shelf, confirming firmware is 3.0.0 or lower, and just throwing it in the closet. I have been wanting a second dock anyway, makes more sense to just buy a second console. The dock plus the joycons equals about $180 in value anyway lol.

Updated to 3.0.1 when the update came out. Well, you basically have to for Odyssey anyway, and playing online for other games for sure.

well hot damn, i edited this as well , how should i put it, i will just keep my switch updated and i will buy only the games i really want.
should be fine that way, but i would defintely get jealous if i saw some homebrew that allows you to use custom themes/wallpapers and some sort of browser /video players etc.
edit : read through the thread abit.. and wow there was some sort of beef haha, cmon guys we're all bros here.

everyone has his/her own opinion, do not bash each other (i think someone did mention mother, that probably triggered the beef i think..)
