Is anyone really gonna drop the cash for it, or is it just a gag.

Depending on the price, I definitely am interested in it, the only problem I've had with docking so far is that it requires me to undo
the L/R Joy-cons which are still buggy :/

Perhaps if I got the Pro controller there wouldn't be a problem, but I'm looking forward to the Wireless Controller Adapter so I can just use my Wii U Pro controller :3

Would you guys take it with you when you're traveling (ie: play in a hotel room or at friends party)?

Most likely, I enjoy the small screen, it's novel, but who can resist the full experience without being stuck at 720p... :3

It's way better than having to find a TV when you can just plug this in to the wall.

I think as long as it has speakers and hdmi out. Even a pico projector can be good enough for a darkened room, and this would be a straightforward way to bring your console to other places without always having to deal with a nest of wires.

No way. I have been avoiding pico projectors due to poor contrast/brightness, they can't display a large enough picture due to that, but I would still rather buy one of those as they let me plug in anything I want. The portable projectors that are actually good are expensive, heavy, and tend to be a little on the large side.

It accepts HDMI input from other devices, so it can be used as a standalone projector.

One thing to note is that portable projectors almost never come with native 1920 x 1080 resolution output. Usually it can accept FHD input, but will provide a massively downscaled output. Lots of projectors have misleading ads that say they "support full 1080p resolution" but what they actually mean is that they support devices up to 1080p but will actually output somewhere between 240 x 135 to 640 x 360. Note that the spec page does not mention native output resolution at all, and from past experience I can say that a projector that size definitely won't have full 1080p output. Coupled with the low 200 lumen light, you'll be having a really hard time seeing what's displayed.

This is what Zelda would look like at 240 x 135:

and even at 200 lumins, some people have had issues with switches heating up and warping in its own dock, right? (I've thus far only used it as a handheld)

Putting it next to a projector lamp only creates more heat. The design looks cool, but it's super impractical considering you'd want closer to 1000 lumins for it to be worth a damn.

I've seen that footage before, it's captured on a low-resolution mobile phone camera and can't represent what the final product's image quality will be like.

All I'm saying is that it looked pretty good from what I saw in the video, maybe we cannot understand the true graphical fidelity from this video, but it shows enough to make an impression.

Heh, that's pretty neat. I bet this could be great fun for camping and stuff like that. I dunno realistically how much use I personally would get out of it, but I do think its a pretty cool accessory.

Footage of it in action can be seen here playing Breath of the Wild: https://twitter.com/ojoprojector/status/896451316360265728/video/1

It looks to function more than well enough in my opinion.

Given what projectors in the ~$100 usually output, it's probably 1080p downscaled to either 720p or 480p

I mean, guys, looking at how it's both a projector, that looks pretty good in the vid, combined with the fact that it will charge the console, as well as it upscaling to 1080p from 720p, I think it's pretty good, considering the price range will be <$100. Plus look at how small is it! Its half the size of the regular dock!
