Could someone send them an e-mail? They haven't answered mine but maybe it fell in a crack or something. I think they should focus on their strengths, Cheats, extenal memory that is really easy to manage and a fancy and fast menu. If they could just improve on those things I would be happy.

I sent them an email a week or two ago asking for an update as well with radio silence.

I'm getting miffed about this too since I only use GW on my N3DS and don't want to bother with the other methods and having to move my GWemuNAND over to them. Over the past couple years I've seen the 3DS scene move so fast I'd rather just keep on what works rather than spend my entire weekends moving data and re-setting up my 3DS with the "new hax". It took me two years after menuhax was released that I finally installed it rather than opening GW via Ninjhax.

I installed A9LH on my O3DS but it doesn't seem to offer much over GW, and the fact it's working in sysNAND just scares me.

B9S seems intriguing, but now I see posts about game crashes due to region checking (and subsequent having to change region code in the OS for them to work = more time spent re configuring) which they work fine in GW emuNAND. If someone can share with me an intriguing argument and list of benefits of moving from GW to B9S I'll consider it, but right now I'm fine not updating since I don't have a choice.

From what I heard, the only reason to move from Gateway to B9S is if you care about Fire Emblem Echoes DLC or the 1.1 patch for Ever Oasis. As far as I know, Gateway can still do everything else, even online if you follow that one guide.

That and there's that awesome ciAngel that can still reach out and DL games/DLC/Patches from eShop which is how I've been grabbing all the new stuff that's out... Unless EO 1.1 or that DLC requires an update later than 11.2 (I think that's what GW is on atm)?

Which guide are you referring for online? I don't play very often, but still nice to know in the off chance I want to play Smash online down the road.

Its a huge shame I was still a big Gateway user and have always supported them even to the point I downgraded my firmware from 11.4 to 11.2 to use the rom selection screen again because I got fed up with waiting on the new release to support 11.4 and on wards but now I feel I have to say goodbye and let go, yes its that bad!

To go online with an outdated operating system and (a cfw without friends version patching, or an outdated cfw -- gateway has neither), download and install the newest "friends" driver (00040130-00003202)

FE: E and EO require 11.4 to install the dlc/update. I don't know if ciAngel works, but FBI/devmenu can't install those on gateway anymore. The guide for online I was referring to is https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-get-11-4-emunand-working-on-gateway-with-online-access.472624/

The crashes aren't caused by B9S, B9S is only an entrypoint and won't affect anything one the CFW has been launched. You can use Gateway with B9S if you want. The crashes come from Rosalina on Luma 8.1. To avoid the crashes all you have to do is use astronautlevel2's legacy Luma build that removes Rosalina.

Is that build available in the guide?

Going online without going through hoops
Firmware protection
Play DS(i)/GBA games and NDS(i) flashcart support
Living and active teams
Open source
No need for emuNAND
Being able eject my game cart
Being able to update my system
Not waiting months to use the latest entrypoint

There are a lot of good reason to move away from Gateway. Expect for some reason the Gateway community wants to continue to cling to these carts, despite the Gateway team being so poor at maintaining their product.

If someone else could make another ram editing solution and put it into a custom sysmodule, it would be one less reason to stick with GW.

This comment I am about to make is most going to end in two ways, but I need to say it. I am pretty sure with all the devs we used to have, we would have had features like a better cheat engine, .3DS ROM loading, and other Gateway features. Instead the devs and their perspective communities spent more time bickering and creating drama for no reason whatsoever. I used to blame the community, but it's become very apparent the more I look that most of the devs weren't innocent either (not going to name any names.) Instead of working together to tackle the main reasons everyone uses Gateway, people on sat around saying, "My CFW is better than your's!"
Think about what could have been accomplished if we had only worked together instead of indulging drama.

They have means to exploit NTRboot with their know-how if they wanted. Boot9 is dumpable via B9S, they can get the NTRboot keys and make custom DS flashcarts.
