I followed the DSiWare Save Injection steps from 3ds.guide and got up to Section V - Backing up the target 3DS’s FIRM. So when I try to open The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords it just comes up with white screens. I don't know where I messed up on the guide or if I could fix it.

After restoring the backup on the source console, can it run boot.nds? (Don't actually run any of the options because they could brick, but just see if you can get into it)

No it white screens for a bit and then loads the game. I guess I did something wrong back in first sections?

Well I might have thought you loaded the save wrongly but the fact that it white screens should mean something is working. Though it shouldn't go back to the game, it should have an error about not finding boot.nds, or else go into it. I have no idea what the problem is sorry :-(
Maybe try doing the beginning bits again (loading the save) and try using a new SD card that doesn't have so much stuff on it (I have no reason to believe that will help, but it is something to do). If you can get it working then all you have to do is move the DSiWare to the SD card and then use that SD card in the target and move it to the system, you won't have to wait seven days.
