Is that due to it being an "open world" game? OR were there other particular aspects of BOTW that also contributed to you believing this?
open world, but also the fact that its less a puzzle game for bosses and such with different item found in every dungeon

Ahh okay i see now. Yeah i heard about how in Zelda 1 (i think) you had to complete one dungeon and then receive the item needed to progress onto the next area of the map or dungeon?

But i dont now if this was carried on into later zelda games like oot,mm,ss,ww or tp? (do you?)

Regardless yeah if this is true then yeah BOTW never really had this kind of system in place since well you could do whatever you wanted without having to posses certain items in order to proceed onto the next area.

I'm thinking Nintendo is gonna let Zelda take a well deserved break. I don't expect a new Zelda title (be it brand new or a remake/remaster) until 2019 at the earliest. Keep in mind, Breath of the Wild is still being supported, the second DLC pack will release near the end of the year, for all intents and purposes, Breath of the Wild is still considered to be a new and not fully complete game.

exactly, zelda games are preetty linear and there are very few side quest compared to botw (There are some, but not as much as botw)

I think we might see a new, smaller-scale Zelda game in the next 2 - 3 years (think handheld title, except still on the Switch), and the next big Zelda game in 5 - 6 years. In between that? Remakes, re-releases and multiplayer games.

I also think it "broke the mold", not that I think that itself is bad in anyway, but some reasons that contribute to believing this are:
  • "Open World", a little of this.
  • Highly non-linear (but this was already so in the first Zelda)
  • A lot of weapons with a lot of not so different properties vs a small set of very specialized tools.
  • Tools/weapons found anywhere in a non-linear fashion, vs tools found in dungeons and highly connected to the storyline and further game progression.
  • The game is way more related to physics, and you can do all kind of weird things in very different ways; vs very limited set of physics and skills to master.
  • More overworld exploring and small dungeons, vs less overworld exploring but bigger dungeons and a lot of exploring and puzzles on dungeons (where each dungeon feels like a big milestone)
  • Less focused on complex tailored puzzles
  • Less focused on using it's plot and storyline as a carrot to make you play further and further (less cinematic/cliffhanger/hooking storytelling?)
  • Etc.

Ah yes regarding plot which Zeldas should i look out for in terms of them having "amazing plots?"

Because i felt like BOTWs plot was good at times but it felt broken in my opinion and maybe that was because of the "non linear-ness" of the game
(by broken i mean that the plot wasnt what kept me going but rather it was the world itself that i wanted to explore)

Yet regardless i found the plot to be good at best and at some points it was really good. But i diddnt feel like BOTW was very story driven and again i think that is because of the risk they took with making the game non-linear.

Not that it was a bad thing but i really wanted more story and can i just ask......

Why isnt Zelda by your side after the final boss fight? I would have loved to have zelda follow and fight beside me as a companion and why is ganon still around when you load up your "cleared" save?

i just find that annoying since it really took me out of the world since it felt like i had accomplished nothing in regards to defeating the big bad of the game.
(SPOILERS FOR BOTW, you have been warned)

I would like something "simple" like Triforce Heroes on Switch
I really enjoyed it when I've played it on the 3DS

A skyward sword remake would be cool.
Also, remakes of both PH and ST would be awesome on the switch as well, seeing as how neither really needs touch screen controls when you have a pointer and a dual stick.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Zelda in 2018? Don't see that happening 'cause they'll probably take a few years till then, probably around 2020.

We might see some remasters of Zelda games for the Switch, though.

Actually, Zelda games are pretty frequent, unless you consider only the 3D games mainline, seeing as how triforce heroes is canon.

Not sure about amazing plots, but regarding storytelling that hooks you up and drives you to play further I would say OOT and Twilight Princess, but sure many will disagree.

Honestly what I want is what I been asking sega to do, HD REMASTER OF the FIRST FOUR PHANTASY STAR GAMES! O_O
honestly if Zelda one and 2 and the gameboy titles was just HD REMASTER collection, I would pay $60 for it, provided it corrected all the problems with Difficulty in them.
THIS, so much this.
I don't know how the hell it is related to Zelda at all, but please do!

Is not related to zelda at all. Is a JRPG series made by sega to ( I assume potentially combat the growing popularity of Final fantasy) Honestly, is nothing to do with Zelda at all. Just something I wanted. Trust me, those genesis games are a nightmare. O_O You would probably play it out of curiosity of finding it on a compilation disc like I did, with sonic ultimate genesis collection on ps3 or PS2/PSP or cheap buy on steam wiishop or now free to play on android/ios via sega forever service.

Phantasy star 2 is the first one on genesis prior to the first game for master system. Just try playing it for a hour, I DARE YOU. O_O

Back on topic, no is nothing about zelda, just something I wanted for long time. HD REMAKE of 4 phantasy star games, Make it, Put it on PS3 for $40 a disc or $10 each as download game.... make it multiplatform or whatever.

The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask Deluxe is going to release featuring a new alternative story if you beat the full game :P
After that they are going to make a DOOM based game of the Legend of Zelda based on BOTW in 2019.

Honestly what would be really cool is if they did a "Timeline Collection" remaster. Split it into four releases for each of the major timeline segments and have a menu with all the remastered games in that pack appearing chronologically, maybe with trivia/bonus content linking games together. Sell it for like $90 a bundle
