OK, just tried 1.5, and well, at least I can properly exit Nestopia now and no crashes in sight. Also I suppose I know why FB Alpha was crashing - I'm quite certain Retroarch on Wii U doesn't support 7zip format.

Perhaps not, better to keep ROMs unzipped. MAME/arcade ROMs need to be zip format however.

Are you sure? My SD card is definitely genuine, just a little bit old (nearly 2 years), and I can load different homebrew no problem, installed nearly 300 gigs of games onto HDD... it's just the Retroarch 1.6 that crashes with DSI exception in like 95% times I try to load any game...
Which is strange because I have used 1.6 pretty much every day for a few hours each day since 1.6 came out and I have not had one dsi error yet I constantly had them on 1.5.

You're probably getting dsi exception errors cause you don't extract your games from archives.

Sd card are solid state tech. The DO have are write limit, as in how many times your can write to them before part get unusable. The SD system is made in a way the data is is written to healty sectors, until the card begins to die.
This is the only way a card can get corrupted besides physical error, like a splitting card and such.

Also you have to correcly format a SD card for WiiU Wii homebrew.
Fat 32 64 kb clusters.

But does that account for why 1.5.1 or a 1.6.0 is so prone to people getting DSI exception/System Memory Errors? Because that's awfully prevalent.

You have a valid point, but for what it's worth, I never experienced problems on 1.6.0.

On SD card a reformat can do wonders sometimes. due to the nature of the media itself.
I looked up some background info that backs up my user exp.

Using the PROPER format tool to format your sd card is key here, I think.
It never hurts to try right?

But many have experienced it when changing cores, such as when I changed from Snes9x to Genesis Plus, wham, DSI error. Or System Memory errors, surely, we can't be the only ones to experience them. I tried reporting them too, but it was for naught.

Yes but like I said a few posts back I use retro 1.6 for at least 2 hours a day and have done since the day 1.6 came out and not one dsi error or any other fault. So it's strange others have issues

HI

I have a newbie question: how to build a working retroarch core for the wiiU ?
I'm able to load successfully a retroach core built from the nightly buildbot.
but when I'm trying to build the same core , it build fine , but always freeze with black screen when I load it.

I 've setup my devkit using devkitPPC_r29-1-x86_64-linux ,and I downloaded libfat and libiosuhax from dimok789 github.
I've clone libretro-super repository , fetch a core and build the core with libretro-build-wiiu.sh .
move the core to retroarch/dist-scripts and launch wiiu-cores.sh.
the build is fine and the resulting elf core is in pkg/wiiu/retroarch/cores.
I transfer it to my sdcard in retroarch/cores folder.

But when I launch it with HBL ,all I get is a black screen .
If I replace this core with the buildboot one , it load successfully .
Did I miss something in my setup ,or I'm using wrong library ?

Thanks in advance.

Apologies if this is a redundant question/request, but is it possible to make use of playlists and such on the Wii U retroarch so it displays screenshots and proper naming conventions for say Mame games? I haven't seen any particular mention or guide how to get this done unfortunately.

Mame emulator doesnt seem to work for me or I'm just doing something wrong. When I load content all I get is either return to hbl or a DSI exception.

Is there a games compatibility list for the Wii U port somewhere?

I've been trying to get Osman and Battletoads arcade to run with the Mame core but I get jumbled on-screen sprites with Osman and a black screen with a buzzing sound on Battletoads arcade.

Has someone been able to run these two successfully? Thanks in advance.
