Went to Toys R Us in Canada and picked up a "B" batch Pro Controller today alongside Splatoon 2, I was also looking for Puyo Puyo Tetris retail but the location I went to did not have it in stock.

The Reason why I say it's a new batch is because the ending letter in the back of the Pro Controllers box ends with a "B" instead of "A", this was the only one that had a "B" ending SKU letter on the box in which I figured was probably the newer batch and I guessed it right.

All the YouTube videos of Pro Controller unboxings in North America from launch up till June all have a SKU ending with the letter "A", hopefully I don't have any issues with this one as I've bought a near launch Pro Controller that had to be returned because the D-Pad was not giving the right inputs for LEFT and DOWN.

Haven't had time to test out anything yet, I just got around to first charging the Pro Controller right now (it's still charging).

Nice. Haven't had any issues with my launch pro controller. It's actually the best-feeling controller that I've had for my hands, even marginally better than XB1 because it's wider and flatter. The one nitpick being that the (front face) buttons don't need to be quite as large as they are. D-pad works fine.

The dpad "works", but imo it's probably one of Nintendo's worst implementations of a dpad. The main issue is its missing the bump in the middle. It's far too easy to accidentally hit multiple directions when you intend to push one. I've died so many times in BOTW because when I'm sneaking and go to switch arrows I end up calling for my horse and being attacked. I've been using the fc30 pro more than my pro controller because of that. It's just all around more precise on the dpad.

Haven't had that issue myself, but even if I had I wouldn't use the FC30 as a main controller. It's too small and flat, doesn't even have the elongated wrap-around shape of the joy cons. Fine for short sessions and I bought it in part for the retro look, but the Switch pro controller feels more quality and has a lot more tech in it.

except for the L R pressure registering.

I wouldn't mid picking up a new Pokken DX revision controller with ZR and ZL added to the to the shoulder button strictly for fighting games, 2D platformers and games that use the D-Pad a lot like Puyo Puyo Tetris, if and only Hori decides to make a new on for the Switch as described.

It'll be like a PS2 controllers without the analogs or the first version of PS1 controllers (which had no analogs) only shaped a bit differently.

Just finished charging the Pro Controller via direct Switch AC adapter (took about 2 hours), I've tested the D-Pad first through wired mode (tuned on from settings) then via wireless after paired and so far it's perfect.

I have not done any gaming with it yet so there could potentially be other issues (fingers crossed) but the D-Pad was my main concern with the first one I bought and so far it does not seem to exhibit the same problem with this batch of Pro Controllers.

I also seem to notice a slightly less input delay with the Pro Controller connected via wired mode, it could be just my brain tricking me though but I fairly decent TV with low input delay in which I think I see and feel a difference as I'm very sensitive these kind of things.

When I press up very often left registers and when I press down very often left registers which drove me nuts in the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo, I did a button test in the settings menu to confirm my finding before returning the controller to Walmart, this time around I bought the controller from Toys R Us which seems to get new stock more often and was the place I bought the Switch at launch.

Regardless over the time period of one month I had the first Pro Controller the issue seemed to get worst which prompt me to return the product to Walmart or RMA with Nintendo, I still debating on RMAing my right Joy Con as the triggers and shoulder button seem to have lost their clicks and feels less responsive to the left Joy Con...I'll do it when I grab another set of Joy Cons from a new batch with Toys R Us.

Again, you got a bad batch of the Pro Controller back then while the rest didn't but hey, hope it works flawlessly for you now.

Oh, the triggers on the pro controller don't have a lot of travel room, so a small tap usually does the trick.
Well, they are digital triggers.

Weird that they got a bad batch? The entire batch is bad. Every single pro controller I've come across has the issue in varying degree. There are several other people who have similar findings. People who claim they have "good" pro controllers are either completely lying or aren't playing to full potential. This thread interested me because I have hope that one day Nintendo might actually fix it.

@Nemix77 How did it work for Puyo Puyo Tetris? I've found that the input test screen actually has input restrictions, and doesn't register as many presses as can actually be done in Puyo Puyo Tetris.

Well that's quite the unsubstantiated claim. What issue is it you're referring to?
