Recently started using my first flash cart which is a R4 SDHC RTS LITE playing on a DS lite. I noticed that the battery seems to drain much faster compared to using a normal DS game and want to know if thats normal for this flash cart or do all of them use more battery life? Does this shorten the total lifespan of the battery? Can this cart do an damage to the console itself be it the battery or anything else? Thank you for your time.

Edit 1: Dont know if it helps but I am using a 64g SanDisk SDXC card I already had and changed it to fat32 so it would work and currently have 23 games on it.

Edit 2: Might not mean anything but I noticed that with the flash cart the power light changes back and forth from red to green and green to red over and over. With a normal card if the battery is low it stays red,but with the R4 it has a hard time making up its mind.

No, it's the R4 cart, drains more faster the battery because it's accesing to the microsd, have compatibility with all games, etc.
Most R4 of today doesn't drains battery too fast, it have like resistors or something. Maybe your R4 is old. Mine is 2016 edition, and it works perfectly like a nds game. and doesn't drains the battery too fast.
R4 cannot damage consoles.

Almost all DS flashcarts drain the battery faster than a legit game (which makes sense since they have more hardware built in), but the difference is usually only a few minutes, I doubt you would even notice unless you specifically looked for it.

Thank you for the reply,I am charging it now and will try to keep track of how long I use it for before the light turns red.

Actually it's possible for a flashcard to damage the console. Early N5 models blew a fuse because they drained too much power (there is a fuse in the DS lite).
