OCDM - Mario Maker 3DS course manager

OCDM stands for Online Course Database Manager

Features*:
  • import and export courses, both** 3DS and WiiU
  • cryptofix saves (if the game marked your save as "corrupted")
    • Note: this will overwrite the LockoutID in your courses, not in the save file, so please be fair and don't reupload others' courses :)
  • make/apply save snapshots (exports all files which are used in the save)
    • Note: please format your save data before restoring your save otherwise the game could mark your save as "corrupted", and this one is not cryptofixable
  • browse SMMDB
    • download courses
    • discontinued

*: these features are in the latest build at the time of editing this post, so functionality in the public build could differ
**: due to differences in the 3DS and the WiiU version, importing a converted course file on a foreign platform could crash the game on loading the course

Dear makers,

After hours of hard work, I've finally done it!
Head over to http://smmdb.ddns.net and adore the new website.

Everything is new, but here is a list of most important changes:

- The website is now a so called SPA (single-page app). This generally means initial loadtime might be longer, but the website feels much more fluent (since the old website was full of bad code, the initial load is actually much faster as well)
- Everything has been ported from the old website except star/download/completion count - It will come back
- There are no more packages. Every course that was in a package is now a standalone course - I had to do this, because the internals changed way too much to support it further. Packages will however come back! There might be a lot of duplicates.
- It's closer to the matter - When you do course changes, it will affect an actual serialized course. When you upload an image, it will replace the actual in-game thumbnail. Your uploaded courses will use title and maker name of the actual course. You can change it however.
- 3DS support - OCDM will soon support our server
- Cemu SMMDB (save file editor for PC) has been updated - The old version is no longer compatibel
- Mobile/small screen size support partially supported - I'm working on this
- Nintendo ID can be saved, but it won't do anything for now
- Sorting is partially supported - Working on this
- Open source
- Discord Bot

Thank you for telling us about this. I have really been looking forward for a release to come out,
Now I just need to figure out how to add maps to the 3ds :/.

How do you plan to integrate the site with the app, how will the user select the courses to download?

I was thinking that maybe a good way could be that the user finds the courses in your site and when one is chosen, a QR code is generated which can be scanned with the 3ds to be imported to an slot.

The reddit OP confirms that right now you can use OCDM with this and download courses and import them manually but I haven't figured it out yet, and no one has really shown how to do it yet.

The save files in Mario Maker are stored as "File" files, (The file is not a folder, and looks like a text document but just completely white on Windows.) It has no extension to the file.

So theoretically how you would get from the website is by downloading the item and removing the extension of the file completely. (By default mine is stored in .7zip/rar format.) And make it just a regular file with no extension because that's the file OCDM needs in order transfer files. And that's how it might work but I haven't done anything successful with downloading courses from the website, and I'm clueless so :P.

but in order to export a course you have made (or downloaded from the game.) You will have to have it stored in the course bot, (Save stages section of the game.)
Now you just need to go into OCDM, and export the course (Just go into Course Manager, select the course you want, and hit export.) Then you will have a full save of your course on your SD Card.
From here, others can download the file from somewhere or you can keep it as a backup if you are running out of space on the game.

No wait wait wait...

You log in on the website, go to profile and change preferred download format to 3DS. If you just click download, it will download zip compressed Wii U files. After changing preferred download format you get the correct file format when downloading. It is named levelname.3ds.

Now comes the part that I cannot explain, because I don't have a 3DS, but I think you just copy the file to your 3DS internal storage or SD and select import 3DS level in OCDM. You can omit the .3ds file extension. It is just an arbitrary file extension I chose to indicate, that you just downloaded a 3DS file

the ".3ds" extension is the unofficial extension for ".cci" (CTR Card Image) files, so I think it'd be a good idea to change it to something like ".ccd" (CTR Course Data?) or something like that (since the WiiU version uses ".cdt" (Course DaTa))

ok thanks
but how do i do after getting the zip level to put in my 3ds or wiiu mario maker ?
Thanks man. So the files i have downloaded from this site http://smmdb.ddns.net is either wrong file extension or not for 3ds.
Sorry if I wasn't as clear earlier but I said I didn't know how to get the extension right so its compatible with 3DS.

Sorry about that

Dude I would have never figured it out, thanks!

That's exactly how you do it, the only thing you can't do is put it in the 3ds's official system storage and import it in OCDM. You will need an SD Card for that definitely.
Oddly though something I did notice is that when you export courses they do not have the .3ds extension. They are just like I said earlier a file but that's just a small little nit-pick the file works fine when being imported back into OCDM.

Hey how do I convert a wii u course to a 3ds course in ocdm.
Using OCDM on the 3DS and exporting to Wii U Format:
Go into OCDM, go to course manager, and select the course you want to export. Next select export (Wii U), and you should have a file ready to be played on the Wii U.

Using http://smmdb.ddns.net/upload to export Wii U to 3DS Format:
PSA: I don't have a Wii U, but this might be how you do it. You might want to read up on this FAQ Page about how to get courses.
https://www.reddit.com/r/CemuMarioMaker/comments/5ymt29/submit_and_download_levels_here/ - The appreciated way to download courses on Wii U Homebrew
https://www.reddit.com/r/CemuMarioMaker/comments/5pviim/27_faq_please_read_regarding_all_questions/ - FAQ's about Mario Maker (Wii U)

Next, once you have your course data, go here and sign into Google (I'd recommend using Google Chrome for this since the website does not support Internet Explorer.) http://smmdb.ddns.net/upload
Upload your course data, you can delete the file later.

Next go into Profile,
Select preferred method of download to 3DS*,
Select "Download" And you should be able to download your course data in 3DS Format.

There might be a way to do it in the Homebrew application, but again never owned a Wii U so I can't say for sure.
I also might want to note, the 3DS doesn't have all the items the Wii U does. So make sure to not include anything like costumes or else problems may occur when being played on a 3DS System.
Either that or the whole inter download won't work in OCDM when being imported into the 3DS.

@Tarnadas

Okay the site definitely works, since Ive used it to download a few levels and there seems to be no issues. No clear check though.

I was gonna ask if you were gonna improve navigation (it's pretty limited now in my eyes) but the post does say Sorting is being worked onso that's good.
