I have a question regarding CFG USB Loader on vWii.
Is it somehow possible to load installed channels with this loader? I need to force 60 Hz mode for NTSC N64 VC games because they don't run properly on a European console but I can't find an option to make NAND channels visible. Only found a path setting for emuNAND.
For now, I'm using USB Loader GX as a workaround to play those specific VC games, but it's not very convenient because it doesn't save my settings on SD card for some reason.. so I have to set it up every time when I want to play. And I would prefer to use CFG Loader for all my games.

EDIT: I'm using the newest CFG Loader version I could find. (cfg70r78.11 from here)

Hi, first of all, nice guide. I have a question... I did read a part where you divide your hd in 4 partitions. I have a 1tb external hd, but I want to use it to install backups for Wii U. Can I use this partitioned hd, or I Will have to use 2 hds? Let's say, I have some games in my Wii U hd, I can't format it to create partitions Without losing the games, right?

Hello.
Question about nintendont. I understood there was several options on controllers with this, but I cannot seem to use the wiiu pad or the wiimote. Any ide?

Also Im used to the CFG program, but after starting it it seems its letterboxed. is this so old this cannot be fixed or used?

I launch CFG from forwarder channel, and then it properly fills the screen. Launching it from 16:9 homebrew channel works as well.
Regarding Nintendont, please check its compatibility list. Pretty sure you'll need a controller that is either plugged into the Wiimote, or a supported USB controller. I can confirm Dualshock 4 works as intended, even the analog trigger works in Super Mario Sunshine.

Sorry, the WiiU can't use a partitioned drive.
WiiU HDD is a fully formatted drive, with no partition nor even partition table (where you define number of partitions).

You can't have the same HDD for both WiiU games and vWii homebrew.
Ayy lmao, can wii backups be played from the front usb port?
no, the USB Loaders are using a custom USB driver which work only with USB Port0 (recommended) and Port1 (not recommended), located at the back.
Front port are USB Port 2 and USB Port 3

You can use front port with Gamecube games and nintendont, just not with Wii games.

For issues with nintendont, you should read/ask question in the official nintendont thread.
For controllers, you might need to enable some options, or maybe if you use CFG loader to launch games it's not correctly sending the settings to nintendont. I don't think CFG is still maintained.

What an excellent guide! I only seem to be having a problem with USB Loader GX.

I would bring it up in the USB Loader GX thread, however this is more vWii than regular Wii.

I formatted my drive (WD Elements 1 TB Internally Powered USB 3.0) to FAT32 with the tool suggested in the guide. Sometimes, when I load USB Loader GX it doesn't even recognize the drive (shows Initializing USB Device and then something about the HDD for 20 seconds or B to cancel), but other times, it crashes on Initializing USB Device. Is there any way I can fix this?

I read the drive works with the Wii U when it is USB 2.0, haven't heard about USB 3.0... (I got it for christmas and finally decided to put some good use to it)

EDIT: I forgot to mention I have a USB Splitter Cable with the data cable plugged into Port 0. I also have tried the extra power cable both in the Wii U and a Wall to USB adapter for extra power not supplied by the Wii U.

Okay: now that 5.5.2 on the wiiu has surfaced.....
Now and then I activate my wireless connection (with the two dns entries) in order to update nintendont, covers for usbloader and wii homebrew.

After I update I block the connection again in my router (mac filtering).

What are the riscs that while in wii mode, ninty pushes the 5.5.2 update to my wiiu?

I read the drive works with the Wii U when it is USB 2.0, haven't heard about USB 3.0...
USB3.0 drives are compatible, but recent ones have issues.
Maybe even recent USB2.0 (if they exist).

I think the problem is new drives are using a new initialization sequence that the cIOS (d2x, not USBLoaderGX) is missing.
To fix this issue, you can set USBLoaderGX to use the official IOS58 at launch (and inside the loader which is set at the same time), and only use the cIOS when launching a game.

To do this :
USBLoaderGX > Settings > Loader settings > Loader's IOS : 58
reboot.

you might have to re-enable Wii games from the 4th icon in the top menu because when the loader doesn't find an USB it disables Wii games from USB.
I might remove that in next revision (if/when I release one).

I don't like the idea to use IOS58 by default, but that HDD init issue is more and more common, it might be the only solution.

As far as I can recall, the Ubisoft webcam from the "Your Shape" game needs the official IOS58 to work, but then to play a backup version of "Your Shape" from HDD you need to run cIOS, which does not have IOS58 incorporated, that means the webcam is not available when running the game from USB, and thus renders the game unplayable. This was one of the issue left over from the Wii hack scene back in the days... Just wondering if it's been solved in vWii now??

Does emunand work ok for wiiware in the vWii? Being limited to 512 MB isn't going to cut it :)

The guide doesn't seem to cover it.

Thanks a lot. I have 2 questions...
I readed on the Internet something about patching ios80 to play virtual console games. Is there something in this guide that do this another way, because I didnt find ios80 in the topics in this guide. Next, do I have to use a separate hdd? Because my Wii U hdd have 1tb, with cbhc, and have many installed Wii U games.

On vWii all IOS below 200 should not generally be touched. All that is needed to be replaced is 249, 250, 251 and 236.
