Perhaps you could Copy/Paste your conversation with them to give an idea of how this is achieved , Please (: it's amazing how well things are going for retroarch just to wait for overlays and shaders to actually take advantage of the wii u resolution *_*
No problem!
(advise: i do not speak english very well)
@cucholix

First you need to create a playlist, I used the app playlist buddy, I even posted a pic explaining the usage, it must be around the latest page. Try messing around with playlist buddy and told me back, there are people using the built in network downloader make sure you boot RA with CFW to speed SD reading.

Me

Thanks!
Well, about the playlist:
I think i've made this one time.
I tried with your image and after this, a new column have appear on Retroarch with the name of the 2 roms i've put on playlist.
2 problems after this:
1 - The collumn do not show any icon, is this right? (I've already download the asset)
2 - When i choose the game, they ask me to choose the core and did not found any core.

Is this because i'm use RPX version?

Thanks!

Understood!
Yesterdayl i've download this http://thumbnailpacks.libretro.com/ and try to use, but with no sucess..
I've download (now) the retroarch pc version to try to understand the folder structure.
Now i'll try to do the thing you told me.
Thank you! I'll reply!

So, Do i need to use specific folders names on playlist buddy?

@cucholix

yeah that thumbnail pack is correct, do you check if your roms have the same name as the .png?
For example: Super Mario Bros (USA).zip should have Super Mario Bros (USA).png to show the thumbnail correctly

There's no "correct" folder structure but the most "clean" in my opinion:
sd:/roms/Nintendo - Super Nintendo Entertaiment System/Super Mario Bros (USA).zip

Use the same folder name as the thumbnail pack from RA

Me

Well, on Playlist Buddy, need i use some specific name,on specific box?
Hmmmmmmmm, understood this too!

So, about the playlist
On "Base Rom Path" I put the path of roms located on my pc
Ex: C:/Users/roms
On Local Destination Path I put a location to save the generated playlist
Ex: C:/Users/Downloads
On Playlist Settings I put the local on my WiiU SD Card where i put the roms
Ex:sd:/roms/Nintendo - Super Nintendo Entertaiment System

The buddy will generate 2 folders - Playlist and Thumbnails and only i need to do is copy this to retroarch sd folder?

Thanks for patience

Remember that thumbnail downloader will only work if your roms have the same name as the one in the thumbnail pack repository.

Also, in RA the playlist default path is sd:/retroarch/cores/playlist
Thumbnails don't have a default one (I think) so you must set that path, I put it under cores folder because it's more handy when working with Playlist Buddy.

So:
sd:/retroarch/cores/playlist
sd:/retroarch/cores/thumbnails

Important, with this setup you need your SD card inserted in your PC,it will generate everything to your SD, no need to copy/paste from PC.

Me

WOW!!!!! Now i understand clearly!!! Thank you sooooooooooooooo much! I'll try later and after this i will come back to say thank you again hehe!!!
Playlist ok!
Thumbnail Ok!

@cucholix

Delete your config files from Retroarch, that always cause problem...

Me

Now i've found the right retroarch.rpx!
Thank you man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really Thanks!

I recently updated and I got the XMB working fine with assets, looks good. Nice. However, sometimes while loading a core or launching a game it goes to black Wii U system error screen, is that common? I never used to get that until I recently updated retroarch on Wii U.

Nothing about PSX or N64 yet?

It's best not to ask about that for a while; there is zero interest in PPC dynarec from developers, unfortunately. If people want to prove me wrong though, I'd be happy to admit being wrong.

Why the hell did I even think it was smart to start a bounty?

I completely thought I saw someone on the netplay playing a N64 Title (Mario Kart 64 I think) I maybe someone is working and testing on it?

Also, on the other hand, isn't it easy now to port some video player core to Retroarch WiiU and have a full media player that supports USB Fat32 drive?

I got playlist buddy to work now, I deleted all the dot files on my sd manually since my mac wasn't doing it properly like I thought it was.

So how do I created a playlist for fb alpha games?

And I noticed not all the box arts are downloading properly. The majority of box art downloads, but there are some that are missing.

I can't get DOOM wads to run at all. It always says it "an exception occurred".
I can load many games from different consoles just fine, so...

I have those files. How do I get the to work?

Where do I place them?
If you are using playlist buddy place them in your local c: (or whatever short path) and check the Arcade Mode box, write the path to the dat file example c:\dats\fba.dat

If you check "Try to download thumbnails" it will give you two sources to download: FBA or MAME, since both share the same arcade games you shouldn't have problems using either of them. It's important that the dats are based in the same version as MAME2003 and FBA Wii U, I can't recall right now but they are mentioned somewhere in this thread.
