In the "Finalizing setup" section what exactly is the purpose of DSP1? Not to mention the other cias it instructs people to run (although I know what they are for) .... Why is it instructing people to install and run homebrew cias to begin with? With the recent ban wave I thought the goal was to NOT use any homebrew cias, as it was one of the main "probable" causes of ban.

Following the tutorial to the "t" also causes homebrew to show up in the activity log... Which I thought people are also trying to keep free of those entries by using 3dsx w/ Rosalina - instead of cias.

The only downside to 3dsx as far as I can tell are is that not all apps have a 3dsx version, and those that do... certain functions won't work as it requires kernel access. Such as Luma updater not being able to update Luma on ctrnand & certain features of ciangel being unavailable.

Regardless. Imo, the guide should be written to avoid as much a chance for ban as possible. With the cia installations marked as optional & possibly dangerous to trigger a ban.

Just my thoughts. :)

1. This is DSP1: https://gbatemp.net/threads/dsp1-a-new-dsp-dumper-cia-for-better-stability.469461/

2. Does not matter how you run homebrew, it always shows up in process list (even if you inject it to other apps). They should put in the guide to turn of information sending to nintendo (that is somewhat usefal) but ninstendo is still getting some info. So cia (only unofficial) is as dangerous as 3dsx

It doesn't show up as homebrew when run as 3dsx through homebrew channel via Rosalina method. It shows up as 3ds sound, download play, or whatever you swap it with.

Edit: I believe disabling sending of info to N via spot pass is already in the tutorial.

In rostlina menu in process list, it always shows up as 3dsx_app no matter how you run it

Playing Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D
Yeah lol, this should definitely deserve a ban :P

No but that was an actual serious question. If someone has a ton of cia games that don't seem to be bought from any NNID, especially since the 3DS doesn't have any NNID, this kind of qualifies as obvious piracy activity from my point of view... and I've yet to see my 3DS banned.

Do you play a lot of online games? (pirated ones)

If they are available as cartridges, then how does Nintendo know that you're not playing as a cartridge? I doubt it is a matter of matching up NNID bought data, since Nintendo has had about four years to do this and they haven't. Why would they suddenly crack down a year away from EOL when the money gained would be minimal and the cost still fixed.

A lot of them no, but I played a lot of some :P
I don't know how much time I played MH4U online, but enough for Nintendo to see me play it. Same for Smash.
edit btw, they're all pirated on my 3DS. I only buy carts, never digital versions. But I always play digital versions because it's less annoying. So yeah, my 3DS is filled with 100% pirated content in one way or another.

Ah yeah, because the only thing they know is the title, not that I'm playing as a cia. That might be why then.
And yeah, I guess it's not really worth going after people now that most people already stopped playing their 3DS.

Except we're talking about homebrew cias showing up in the activity log when run, vs the ability for 3dsx to be "disguised" when running them via the Rosalina swap method. They do not show up in your activity log as homebrew titles.

Ok, to appease the paranoids, I've uploaded here a DSP1 cia with the "hide usage" flag enabled in the smdh*. Consider it beta. I've tested it and it seems to work: it doesn't show in activity log (the icon is solid black with no info too). Also, I've included the .3dsx for a different flavor of paranoid - still beta. You need cfw archive access enabled for that one to work.

I think it's a little safer to use .3dsx version, but ultimately nothing homebrew and piracy it totally safe.
I honestly am collecting all the 3dsx version of my previous tools because I like keeping tools I don't use very often off of the home screen. Plus I like running freeShop from within eShop, not really sure why I enjoy that so much.
