I recently got an Android tablet (An eMatic EGD213-BL) from a family member, and it won't progress past the boot animation. It has never been rooted or modified in any way. I tried a factory reset (through recovery) and nothing happened. I got in contact with eMatic Customer Support, and they think it's defective. They want to replace it, however, they need the proof of purchase, which I don't have as I got this tablet from a family member. I should also note that this device was on factory settings when this happened. (AKA it was ready for first boot.) Help please. Is it permanently bricked?

You can try with a tool like Odin or download the latest update through recovery
How, though? Recovery says I can apply an update via external storage, but I don't think Google offers update packages for these devices. eMatic Support won't mail me an OS image either.

you either get a custom recovery with Odin and flash a cyanogen mod or something for your device or you can tell me specifically what your tablet is and everything and maybe I can find the os

Look in the OP. I provided the model number. According to recovery, it's running Android 4.4.2.
Just talk to whoever you got it from. Might have proof of purchase.
Nope.

Quit suggesting Odin. It's not a Samsung device, it doesn't _have_ Odin. Two, it's an off brand tablet. As in, nobody has made custom ROMs for it. The odds of fixing it are slim. You either need an OS image or you'll have to RMA it.

Well then, it's pretty fucked. The creators (eMatic) don't want to provide the OS image to fix it (fucking why), and in order to get it replaced, I need proof of purchase, which I don't have.

  1. This tablet came with 4.4 preinstalled
  2. Either a failed firmware update occured and sectors could been corrupted
  3. Allwiner A4 CPU <No flash tool for this CPU rev>
  4. You're pretty much fucked if you can't find proof of purchase and your family member is a dick for giving you a bricked device

Hm, hold Volume Up+Power. If you get a recovery menu, use Volume Down+Up to navigate and Power to accept. Wipe Dalvik Cache and reboot. Wait 5 minutes.

I don't have Wipe Dalvik Cache. I get the following options:
reboot device now
apply update from ADB
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from internal storage
apply update from external storage
apply update from cache

What do I do?

Go into the "wipe cache partition" option and it should have an option to wipe the dalvik cache

Nah, all it does is the following:
- - Wiping Cache...
Formatting /cache...
Cache Wipe Complete.

I tried searching XDA-Developers for the model number, but I can't find a thread for the exact device. However, I have found a similar tablet that turned out to be a rebrand of another tablet. The thread also mentions the same kind of issue, apart from the main cause being from attempting to root the device.
Okay, so I have a Double Power EM63 tablet from Walmart. I believe it is identical to the Ematic EM63 and the MID-AM789 (Google "AM789" for specs since I apparently can't post links yet). I rooted it using Shaume (It's not in english, I just clicked the button that said "root"). I was trying to improve the tablets gaming performance, so I installed the Chainfire 3D driver, and now my tablet won't boot. It gets stuck on the "DOPO" logo, never gets to the boot animation. I can enter recovery mode, so I tried the "wipe/reset" option, but it didn't help. I think I need the stock ROM or a compatible custom ROM to flash to the tablet so it can run again, but I can't find any ROMs that would work and don't really know how to flash it. I have some basic knowledge of Android devices, but not a lot, so I need someone to walk me through fixing my tablet...
Hello! I have an DOPO EM63 tablet. I was using XBMC. After the device crashed two times successively, my device was bricked, and I was in a constant boot loop. Recovery options did nothing to help. I was able to find the firmware I am providing here on Envizen's website. DOPO does not provide firmware, and quite frankly they never replied to my email requesting tech support. Very tacky indeed. [...] The manufacturers of this tablet are Emdoor. Ematic, DOPO, and Envizen have all branded this tablet. It is a Google Certified tablet. This tutorial should theoretically work with Envizen's EM63 & EM63 COSMOS tablets. The firmware is made for both tablet versions. The difference is the there is a front/back camera setup on the EM63 COSMOS device, while the EM63 only has one front camera. Hopefully someone can bake a custom Rom from this firmware. That would be fun!
From the sounds of it, yours might be a rebranded Emdoor device. Your best bet would be to probably browse the website until you find the tablet that looks exactly the same as yours, and contact Emdoor for the ROM if possible. Emdoor is a company based in China, so I don't know how well it would turn out.

You could buy the packaging on eBay to attain a Proof of Purchase, or contact a seller of the same model and ask to buy the box.
