So. I'm a Gateway user who hasn't used any other CFW applications or anything like that except for Title Manager. I've recently been using 'the keys site' + other stuff to obtain some games I hadn't been able to find, now also including Ever Oasis. But of course, several of these games simply do not load.

I know the normal way to get these games working is to access the eShop and 'repair' the installation, but because I'm on Gateway and nothing else, my CFW is only 11.1.0-34U. This means no standard access to the eShop. I'm aware there's fixes for that, but I'm really nervous about breaking anything before Gateway finally brings out whatever update they are wanting to do.

Can someone help a rather anxious and cautious person in getting these games to work? (The symptom is being stuck at "Nintendo 3DS" when starting them.) I should also note that it's a US console and Ever Oasis in particular (and sometimes other games) are EUR games. If that further complicates things, please explain so I can understand my best options. Thx.

You don't have much option beyond ditching GW and updating your setup..... you cab keep an emunand on 11.2 or bellow to chain load GW later but the best option is to install b9s and use Luma 3ds as per the guide. You will then be able to run the shop on LAtest system nand.

Well, if you're not going to switch from Gateway to CFW anytime soon, the easiest solution for you right now would be to import seed with FBI.
Install and launch it, then go to Titles and find the title that won't boot in the list, press A and choose Import Seed (wifi has to be enabled for this to work).
If the app you have problem with has an update installed, you'll have to do the same for update title as well.
Since you have a Gateway, I'd actually be better for you to use cart dumps when it's possible, otherwise you'll have to import seed for every new game and update.
Or just use Freeshop to get "backups", it will import seeds automatically.
But as others have suggested, the best way would be to ditch GW eventually, I did it myself long time ago and I only boot it when I really have to test something in CCI (.3ds) format. :)

Isn't there a homebrew app (.3dsx) you can use to access the eshop? My bandwidth is way too slow to search for anything. In any case, you should look into downloading the seed.db and using FBI to import the correct seed for you. Or if the game has a physical version (I don't know... I'm LITERALLY out to sea here) then search harder for a .3ds version. Those don't use seed crypto, obviously.

EDIT: there are also threads about crypto fixing using a downloaded seed.db, not to mention a place that can't be mentioned here that tends to serve up already cryptofixed files. Pretty much, you need to use homebrew. There is plenty to choose from with your setup.

You can download the seed with FBI like someone mentioned, or use ctr-httpwn, which is what I use. It's only a temporary patch so there's no way it could break anything.

Thank you guys for replying in a civil, non-antagonistic manner. :3 It's appreciated. As for the advice given, I'll bookmark this page and try to work out the FBI app when I've got a bit more time. It sounds like what I would prefer at this time.

I rarely do anything on the 3DS anymore, and there's not much being released for it at this point, so the smaller changes are better for me. I know Gateway's almost abandonware at this point, but part of me still holds out hope, haha.

The thing is not that it's abandonware, it's that it's annoying (needs a red cart, not free, needs an emuNAND) and only brings nice cheats.
Well if you use said cheats, I won't try to convince you to switch to NTR. But if you don't use said cheats, you're using an annoying CFW for no reason.

Hmm. Found some time to try this, but my system locks up when I go into the titles folder shortly after it loads more than 1 page of titles. :|

Currently using CIAngel to basically redownload. My issue is that I was using Wii U Download Manager to get my CIA's via the computer, so for now I've changed how I'm obtaining them. I let the owner of that program know of the issues and he's going to look into making things easier.

So like did you switch to luma yet? I want to hear your reasoning for keeping gateway, considering it is heavily flawed and unstable.

Doesn't mean it's unstable. It lacks features if you want, but it's not "unstable".
On very rare occasion it fails to boot Sysnand properly. But considering that's given conditional support, fair enough. But aside from that, totally agreed. It lacks features, but it works just fine.

It's still far and away the best cheat system for the console. If you plan to search for your own codes (at least easily anyway), or intend to use those that NTR is incapable of reproducing and/or can't be converted, then there's not a better solution. Additionally, it's useful if you don't want to wait for slow wireless transfers from *that* shop, or ftp of cia's, and would rather load your 3ds roms directly for easy transfer to and from a cart.

Are these features worth buying a Gateway now? Almost certainly not for the overwhelming majority. Are they worth keeping if you already have? Sure. I've had a Gateway since 4.3 at release, and I'm perfectly content using B9S + 11.2 + Gateway. Combined with ctr-httpwn, I have zero need to upgrade firmware, and Gateway works just fine when I need to boot into a game to use the cheat function (which works for ANY game, not just those loaded on the cart).

Step 1: Burn your Gateway
Step 2: Profit

Just kidding, but you should really get a CFW.

Install b9s with 3ds.guide and you can still use gateway on an emunand for cheats aswell as access the eshop through your sysnand with luma on the latest firmware
