Hardware Is it safe to assume that any new PCH-1000 will have a lower firmware (under 3.60)?

I was thinking of importing a new Red PCH-1000 from Japan, but I'm afraid regarding the firmware version. When did SONY discontinued the PCH-1000 in Japan?

it may on there somewhere. that's where vita devs post their information. there's also psdevwiki which is its sister site that has ps3 and ps4 information including technical stuff.

Since it's a fat psvita i don't think you gonna have any problem regarding the fw. BUT be careful because some times the sellers even if they say brand new, sealed etc. they have upgraded the fw. I know it, because i ordered too from japan and had the latest fw, although the model was manufactured in 2013. So be sure to ask the seller about the fw.

Any brand new Vita sans 2 new colors released in JP in December 2016 are guaranteed to have 3.60 or lower on them. Don't buy used unless you or the seller can check the firmware itself, I'd avoid eBay unless you can ask or even if it says "new" cuz sometimes that means "Never used, but I opened it and updated everything and put it back".

Lol I 'bought' one Vita second hand locally. Guy said it was 3.60...i made him boot it up in the train station car park to prove it...it took ages as He's wiped it...so I hand it to him and say show me.

He goes to settings and it's 3.65..cue head scratching on his behalf...he says, do you still want it? I'm like.. .er no.

Found a 3.55 advertised by a cash converter shop. Asked them to put it to the side do I could pick it up. Got there and made him turn it On, 3.65. Turns out he'd put the phat 3.65 away for me not the slim 3.55 .

Moral of the story if I hadn't checked twice in person I would have lost out...
