I've been told I'm "musically inclined" but I just think I love music! I've been in musicals since I was a little boy (5 years old) and I've dabbled in instruments around the same age! I picked up ocarina when I was 10 years old, and "mastered" it in a few weeks! My parents were surprised that I picked it up so fast, and I've always learned instruments pretty fast! However, my family didn't have a lot of money when we lived in the U.S. (I have nine brothers and sisters) so they didn't have the funds for me to learn piano, drums, guitar, and such. I was in Chorus/ Music Theory for 5 years so I learned to read sheet music pretty well, but I've forgotten a lot because I never got to really put it to use. I've learned Chinese faster than the rest of my siblings, and they say it's because of that "musical gift" but I just love to listen to the tone and sound of Chinese. Plus, my fiancée's mother can't speak English, so I've had to learn Chinese to speak with her! I've been writing my own music for 7 years now, but never released anything due to being very insecure! One day I might mass release my music, and hopefully the messages in them make sense. Here's an example :
"
You know how the ocean goes in and out
Well, I feel like the those waves came in and sucked out any bit of life I had left in me
It left pieces of junk that I didn't need
The repetition of these things are what slowly kills me
But I'll ignore it anyway because that's the only way I can get things done
Maybe if I would take a second to break down instead of keeping everything inside I might be a little better
What's the point in letting it all out
If that ocean is going to bring in more clutter "
-Cure for Apathy
This particular section of a song I wrote is Spoken Word, and it's one of the many different genres I write in! I enjoy learning and writing in different styles because it helps me grow as I get more into music.
Oh, and I go by the name Cure for Apathy as my band name? But I'm not much of a band, just a person who enjoys music.
