As said before, Game Freak decided to make all of the models in the game to have higher polygon counts in this one. Sadly, this drastically decreases the framerate because the game has to process so much more. They didn't include 3D in Sun and Moon because even the N3DS would have exploded from the amount of shit they have to render at a time, from Pokemon to Trainers to Battle Effects to Totem/Ultra Beast auras (at very situational times) and the background, all of which are much more dynamic than they were in XY and ORAS.
tl;dr too many polygons N3DS would have dies if 3D was on.

Let's be honest most the 3ds players don't even turn on the 3ds feature. So if they built their game around it, it'd be slow. I'm glad they removed it and focused on the quality of the game instead of how 3d they can get it

Opposite. I think it looks "weird" when not in 3D so I noticed immediately, men got over/used to it

Yeah, I started playing yesterday and no 3D was the first thing I noticed.

I always have my 3D on full, no matter what I play. No 3D in Sun was very disappointing.

Yep I noticed that, too bad. Dunno but the box of this game should be renamed from 3DS to 2DS.
