Hacking Which R4 should I buy for my DSi XL 1.4.5?

What would be the very best/most updated card for my DSi XL 1.4.5 that has the highest or perfect compatibility with everything in general.

I would like to purchase from ndscard.com. Though I hate how their so slow with shipping as their in China, but I'd rather wait for something that I know will work great than buy from a fishy looking site, and my waiting be in vain when it stops working a week later.. :cry:

It's a tad confusing searching for the right card, as idk which one is the latest, or best available. :wtf:

Thank you! I was looking at that one already, but the compatibility for DSi XL says 1.4.4 and 1.4.3 not 1.4.5 like mine.. so that's exactly what confused me. Unless it says 1.4.5 somewhere else on the page and it just so happened to skip my eyes. o.o

Yes it will work on 1.45 and the latest FW of the 3DS.

I can confirm as I have that same one for both systems.

It supports 1.4.5, it works on my DSi. It's also on the page but could be tricky to spot.

AH you're a freaking life saver.. DAMN MY BLINDNESS!! lol I do have another question though, which program from r4ids do I place into the r4 card? Is it the latest wood one? or something else? I see a few, so I'm not very sure.

Hey, quick question. On the r4ids site, what program do I download and drop into my r4 card? The r4 card that was linked in this thread is the one I will be purchasing. Is it the one that says latest wood? I'm a complete noob at this, so that's why I ask. Thanks again!

Yes the wood kernel is what you need. Format your micro sd card to fat32 and drop the files on there.

I know you can update the card via wifi, do I ever need to update the card for my DSi XL 1.4.5? Do I ever need to update anything at all? or are updates not needed for the card since my system is a tad old?

No longer needed. Nintendo hasn't pushed out a firmware to block DS flashcarts in YEARS.

Late i know but just want to say +1 on the R4i Gold. It has no timebomb feature like some of the other cards (Dual-Core grrr) so won't just die in 2 years time. Compatibility seems decent too!

You can watch movies in a custom file format with moonshell. PDFs are kinda problematic; it's better to use .txt files. Music works fine with serveral apps (moonshell, lmp-ng, dsorganize). You may want to buy a supercard dstwo (plus) if you want to watch videos in other formats or read .pdf files.

Next to the wood application, or inside of it? and within the moonshell app I create another folder called videos? Just speculating from what I've seen in the past from other sytems.

The videos have to be in .dpg. Moonshell should be linked at the download page of the r4's website. I suggest to copy moonshell into the root of the SD, next to the wood application. You can copy the videos everywhere you want on the SD.

Does the DSi XL have an internal SD card that is capable of carrying music and videos so like that I dont waste space in my R4 micro sd card?

DS software (as the flashcard) doesn't have access to the console's SD.
