delightful how ungrateful some people are when there getting at least some form of 3rd party support
You're so right. Everyone, stop talking and go pre-order this game regardless if you like it or not! It's third party support on the Switch, that's what matters!!

Not ungrateful for the support, just saddened to see a zillionth iteration of the same game. The boardgame market has expanded and improved quite explosively the past 10 years, I just want a good boardgame on it so badly. The current ranking of Monopoly is 13,855 on Boardgamegeek. This actually means there are 13,854 better games out there. That is a lot.

If I wanted to play a board game, I'd play a board game.

And that's me convinced. Buying a Switch as we speak...
Right on. Who cares about Mario Odyssey? Monopoly for Nintendo Switch is the real deal.

thing is, you can save a game real easy(at least in the streets version on wii) and continue later and setup is super easy, and a switch is more portable the monopoly the physical board game which you can have multiple games on a switch unlike a box that only has 1 game and is larger, also, ffs what is with pieces in board games getting lost, yet another reason it's better for at least my household

Not everybody hates ET; hundreds of fans lined up to witness the excavation. It is just that the critical reception is terrible, just like Monopoly.
...I guess I'm somehow just seeing things, this thread is the only place I've seen such absolute hate and discust towards monopoly...

I thought I had grown up and had some taste in games but I guess I'm just still some stupid kid somehow deriving joy from an aparently shitty and abismall game with in the way it's talked about is seens as deserving to be in a landfill with the likes of et...sorry

That is probably because you either are only a casual boardgame player OR you dont move in a gbatemp boardgame equivalent community, or both. Nothing wrong with that. Either way, the bgg ranking shows that it deserves zero critical acclaim.

Nothing wrong with enjoying games. The reason people think it is shitty and abysmal is its extreme high dependency on luck (outcome of the die), instead of strategies applied by the player. Games that typically spend a long time in the top bgg20, like Power Grid and Puerto Rico, have zero dependency on luck; they have complete open information and outcome is dependent only on player choices.

I suppose that explains it, when it comes to games I see boardgames as a place for simple fun times with monopoly and uno, and when I want a more complicated and tactical game bring on the fire emblem on a game system, game systems are were I go for more advanced games where as board games are just simple things for me casually done, hearing more on this, it sudo feels like how a street fighter player may look lower upon how casual smash bros in despite people enjoying it and finding some competition, although smash is a bit less random then monopoly unless your a game and watch judge spamer

I absolutely agree with the OP: monopoly is FAR from being anywhere near being even an average board game by today's standards. But because ubisoft has a patent on it, it has to milk it. A real pity... :(

Granted...other virtual board games don't gain much traction either. Some months ago, I was surprised how a bunch of my favorite board games were not only available on google play but bundled together in a humble bundle as well. I even made a blog entry about it.

Try a few youtube vids from dicetower containing the word 'monopoly'. If you consider this "absolute hate", then you'll lack words to describe what they're doing. ;)

Small World is not a simplified version of Risk, it is actually a highly sophisticated and strategical version of it (unlike Risk, where - again - the luck factor is extremely high because of the dice). Every move counts in Small World, and you are not dependent at all on a die to conquer lands and defeat enemies. You need to plan very carefully, not only in what race/power combo you choose, but also trying to predict what race/power combo your opponent is likely going to choose. This said, Im kind of sad Small World: Underground and the Spider's Web expansions arent available digitally, those ate the most fun.
