Is there any reason to keep the Nintendo Zone app now that it's service has been discontinued? What did it do anyway?

I heard deleting the Health & Safety app will cause your system to nag you about not having it. Is that true?

I just want to delete as much bloatware as possible to free up space and the 300 app limit.

Deleting system apps will cause the system to give you the update nag iirc, as system update will not find the correct version of the title installed.

Oh, okay. Maybe those are best left alone for now.

Is this something that can be fixed with CFW?
Not as far as I remember. You can just block the updates with the Tubehax DNS (if that's still online, can't remember)

I need help guys! 1st post so go easy on me, and I'm new to 'hacking' 3DS'.

I have a 3DS XL which I hacked via Soundhax, and was booting fine into Luma - I initially used a 4GB SD, and got my hands on a 32GB (which was new) so as I had done before I made an image of the original smaller SD and put that onto the new card. All seemed okay ...

I left the unit installing a bunch of games overnight (as my wireless was slow for some reason) and when I went back to it all the downloads said 'failed to initialize content 0xF9608022' I freeshop.

I turned the unit off and attempted to turn it back on, the blue light flashes for a second and goes off and no power?!

If I remove the SD card it boots fine, and if I put it back in it seems to have trouble reading it as doesn't recognise it and show the games that I had copied across (it did work once and showed them but has since failed to recognise the card).

So the unit Boots without the SD, but not with it!

Help!!!

Thanks :-)

Your SD card sounds faulty or the boot.firm file got corrupted. It's booting without the SD because it's using the boot.firm you placed in CTR-NAND. Try formatting your card and putting boot.firm back on it. If that doesn't help, you'll need a new SD card. Either way, I suggest using H2testw (Windows) or F3X (Mac) to check whether your card is fake, so you can get a refund if it is.

When you say format the SD and put boot.firm back on? Just that? From the original zip file and nothing else?

I have another SD card, and it was from eBay, supposed to be a 32GB Sandisk but it was about £8 with 100's sold - the label is also poor quality so likely fake. I didn't think it would be an issue however?

Yep. If it's fake, it might only start showing issues when you go over its true capacity. (Back up your files though in case you can still use them).
For the other SD card, if you want to check it's fake then try testing with H2testw/F3X.

I was reading that the 11.4 update fixes some of the slow down issues with certain games and I am currently running 11.3-36 on a (US) New 3ds. I have A9LH+Luma installed but its been a while since I updated so I just wanted to ask what the best "order of events" is for updating with the least amount of problems.

1) It's simple enough to just let the 3ds download and install the 11.4 update, correct?

2) Should I run the Luma updater before or after updating the firmware to 11.4? Or should I manually download the latest Luma files and place them on the SD myself?

3) I don't use a lot of CFW, mainly just the stuff installed while following THE guide for installing A9LH and Luma (Homebrew channel, FBI, CHMM, Luma Updater, Save game manager). I'm assuming I should look for updates for all my CFW but... is there anything I need to know that I may be missing that might lead to problems? For instance, when I updated from 11.2 to 11.3 I needed to manually update some files on the SD card (can't recall which ones now) because my system wouldn't boot. Frankly it scared the crap out of me and I would like to avoid that this time if at all possible.

Thanks in advance for any advice, as always, it's much appreciated.

1) Yes
2) Download manually Luma3DS v7.0.5 since you have a9lh. Then you can safely update your system. Luma v7.1+ requires boot9strap and no longer supports a9lh.
3) Just update Luma to v7.0.5 first and you'll be fine. If you want to take advantage of Luma's new features, update to boot9strap via https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s.

Hey all

I just recently purchased a Supercard DSTWO PLUS (DSTWO+) from nds-card.com I mainly bought it for my DS Lite but I was considering in using it if I decide to purchase the N2DSXL
When the New 2DS XL comes out, has it been confirmed if we will be able to use Home-brew on it if I own this FlashCart?
Bump

So what is "Bootstrap"? I am assuming its the new thing that is replacing A9LH... I went through an extremely complicated procedure installing A9LH and now it seems I may have to do it all over again? I doubt there will be that many games coming out for the 3ds that I may want so is it worth updating to "Bootstrap" for the new Luma features?

One more quick question:

I am assuming that the Luma v7.0.5 may not continue to work with future updates beyond firmware v11.4 so eventually we will be forced to update to Bootstrap, yes?

Updating to Boot9Strap from A9LH takes about five minutes only. Have a look at https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s

Will it be safe to continue to update my 3ds with Bootstrap as it was with A9LH?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

To upgrade to bootstrap it seems I need to update Luma to version 7.0.5 first. I downloaded the update from here:

https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/tag/v7.0.5

When I unzip the file there are several folders inside (hax, menuhax, mset, and mset-spider) as well as a .bin and a .py file. I am guessing that the only file I need is the "arm9loaderhax.bin" is that correct?

It should be and yes, you only need arm9loaderhax.bin.
