Homebrew need help with modded wii

hey guys I have recently modded my wii. I got homebrew working. I tried to use usbloader gx and it worked and showed my game, I got the cover images, it showed the normal wii menu for game (settings, start) click start and black screen.

it ended up bricking my usb drive. but the wii is fine.

so one I was curious if there was a way to unmod my wii and start over?
( heard to go to priiloader and make sure I can update and pop in a game to make a virigin wii lol)

also was told just to leave homebrew and do an update to homebrew software.

I understand u need to know my specs I believr I has iso58 and rev20 4.3U

It sounds like the problem lies within the USB drive, not the way in which the Wii has interacted with it. What kind of drive were you using? Please, tell me it wasn't a flash drive. Those are ONLY good for storing 8-/16-bit emulator ROMs on, since those are loaded only once into RAM and decoded from there, as opposed to a Wii ISO, which is decoded and accessed constantly from your USB drive to gather files from it into RAM, the same way the Wii reads files from an actual disc. Your poor flash drive is quite susceptible to bricking when you put it through an extremely frantic series of read/write operation like this. If you were using a thumb drive, that's 100% of the problem. I couldn't possibly stress this enough: don't ever use anything except an actual USB HDD.

You'll be running a bigger risk of bricking your Wii in the process of virginizing your Wii than keeping it as it is in its working state.
In fact, if you have Priiloader installed, you have an existing chance to save your Wii from brickly death when that's the result of a bad user decision such as attempting to downgrade your Wii. (If you haven't yet installed Priiloader, and wish to keep Homebrew, I recommend doing that).
The only valid reason to virginize your Wii is if you're selling it to someone who doesn't want it hacked due to fear that hackers are inherently evil and like turning machines into atomic bombs, or if you're sending it to Nintendo while it's under warranty, but it's 2017. I don't even think Nintendo repairs Wiis anymore, and none are under warranty.

Irrational skepticism. Wii Homebrew scene as a whole is impressively stable. I'm more than reasonably certain that your Wii is fine.

My ultimate advice is to use a better USB drive. The one you've used was a piece.

I have a Toshiba 2gb sd memory card which has the apps on it and work.

My USB flash drive is 32gb SanDisk cruzer.
Which had my iso on it.

Usbloader gx found the iso and I got the cover images just black screen on load. N then USB 'died'

It made my USB flash drive unrecognized in PC and no room/memory available. But does pop up in device manager.

So I guess then how to I update the modded Wii. And by update I mean the soft mod software. Is there a Homebrew app that can make it 'the newest software for modded wii' ?

It's probably the flash drive that's the problem. They're notoriously flaky on Wiis.

There is no app to update homebrew. Just look in the repositories for the software you use for the latest version.

If you think there's a problem with what you have installed on your NAND (IOSes, etc) it's better to post a syscheck report than blindly update things.

Your cIOSes in 249/250 are a bit old. They're the ones commonly used for loading Wii games. I would recommend upgrading them to d2x v8 or v10 with 249 based on IOS56 and 250 based on IOS57. If you use d2x v10 rather than v8 use beta52 rather than the beta53 version. It has compatibility issues.

Does it automatically fix the 249 (iso56) and 250 (iso57) ?

And d2x V8 V10 is what?

Sorry for being noon. I understand some basics and have fooled around little bit modding but figured I ask cuz ur taking the time and I appreciate what I can learn.

d2x is a newer version of the cIOS you have in those slots.

This guide is good to follow and has pictures of what to select. Follow the directions under the "Wii" section. Just DON'T install v10-beta53 as it suggests. Put v10-beta52 in both slots.

If your Wii isn't connected to the internet you can use the "Computer" section of the guide.

This may not fix your issue but it will get those up to date and eliminate the old cIOSes as a problem.

That looks fine to me. Are you able to get Wii games to boot with a loader now?

As for your other questions:

ISOs of Wii games are fine but they generally will not fit on a FAT32 drive as one file. You can use Wii Backup Manager or Wiimm's ISO Tools to convert them into WBFS files (not the partition type!) and it will split them into two files that work. Gamecube games require a separate loader like Nintendont, Devolution or DIOS MIOS to boot from USB. Emulators are just standard homebrew like USB Loader GX, CFG USB Loader, Wiiflow, etc. and only need to be copied to your SD or USB in the /apps folder.

I convert to wbfs is that all I have to do? They fit on fat32 flash drive

Nevermind. Just so people know if ur Wii freezes and u plug it back in and no power led light turns on do this

Unplug everything from Wii and power source from wall. Wait 5-15mins and plug it back in worked for me.

It's kinda like a thunderstorm power surge from unplugging it while froze.

It's possible to run an iso from a USB flash drive, but HIGHLY discouraged. You've already found out why when your flash drive quit working. USB HDDs are better suited for the rigorous read/write operations (which wears and tears flash drives way more than what they're designed to endure) that gameplay will entail.

Don't do that. If your Wii freezes/crashes, you can just simply hold the console's power button for 5 seconds and it'll power off no matter what's (not) going on, instead of unplugging. Then, you can power it on immediately afterwards and restart anew. No need to unplug unless you're done using your Wii for a while and you're conserving on your electric bill.

Here's the latest version of WiiSXR, the best PSX emulator for Wii. You can always find the latest version at that link.
PSX BIOS is required, the *.bin goes in sd:\wiisxr\bios
ROMs go in sd:\wiisxr\isos and they must be *.bin, *.img, or *.iso. You must rename *.nrg and *.mds files to *.iso if you wish to use those.

It's also worth noting that CDDA audio (High-quality CD music at 44100Hz sample rate) is not yet supported, so don't be alarmed if your favorite background musics don't play. I imagine it's probably a bit of a bitch for the developer to implement it since the Wii doesn't natively support any form of CDDA audio, and the Wii's sample rate is 48000Hz, which means it'll have to be somehow decoded and upscaled on the fly (rendering a 44100Hz audio file at a 48000Hz sample rate without proper upsampling [i.e. like WiiMC does] will cause the 44100Hz audio file to sound pitched-up and sped-up). This process is more taxing on hardware than what is ideal, since the Wii struggles with emulating PSX enough as is, so the developer must better-optimize the emulator in order to support CDDA audio. In other words, we may or may not ever see it on Wii.

thanks ill try that psx emulator. as far as usb flash drive ive been using cfg loader and it works perfectly fine for wii games and nintendont for gamecube games just had to switch settings. the usb loader was what messed up my usb flash drive since I haven't been using usb loader gx ive had no issus at all. thanks tho for the knowledge probably get a usb hdd for future to hold more games.
