Unfortunately the FAT32 build does not work for me at all.

Here's what I did:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/request-mocha-cfw-fat32-wup-installer-guide.471624/
In short:
  1. Installing games to Wii U formatted USB stick
  2. Starting CFW + ftpiiu everywhere
  3. Connect to Wii U from a Windows PC (with WinSCP) where my FAT32 drive is connected
  4. Copy everything from Wii U \usb_storage\usr\ to my FAT32 drive (USB:\usr\) except the title folder as it would take ages
  5. Use Wii U USB Helper + CDecrypt to get code+content+meta for every installed game/update/dlc to put it in \title\ in the right folders (follow my thread link to see that I did it correctly)
  6. Turn off Wii U, disconnect Wii U formatted USB stick, connect FAT32 drive, turn on Wii U, launch the Mocha CFW FAT32 build

This is what I get:

It takes forever to initialize/search the USB drive after launching Mocha CFW.
My guess is that it is not able to wake the drive but what annoys me is that it is able to wake it before I launch Mocha CFW as after a few seconds (it's a 5 TB drive) I get the "please format your drive" popup message.

Any guesses? Helping me would help everyone I guess. ;)
Doesn't the Wii U only support up to 2 TB HDD? Maybe thats the problem.

I have a similar problem that @lordelan has.

Mocha recognizes mi HDD after running it, but I can't launch any app I have there with haxchi, I tried opening with Mii Maker but Mii Maker just opens normally without redirecting me to hbl.
Can someone help me?

EDIT: Using Haxchi gives me the "-5" error.

Hello everyone, i am not very confident about changing anything on wii u. So i came here with a few questions before doing anything.

i am running iosu with fw.img running Everytime with internet explorer on wii u.

i want to play the game back to bed but its not available in my region(eu) so i have to download it from us region.

1-Should i change my cfw to mocha cfw ?

2-What are the benefits over iosu?

3-i downloaded iosu because i don't have too much time to read into this stuff and people told me it was hard to mess up with iosu. is there anything i should be careful with mocha cfw after the install?

i am really sorry if these are really basic questions but due to working long hours i can find time like I used to:(

-5 means that a homebrew you put in your \haxchi\config.txt couldn't be found.
Are you aware that after running the Mocha CFW FAT32 build your USB drive "becomes your SD"?
So everything in your \haxchi\config.txt should be on your HDD as well.

Oh my ... now that you say that I remember reading that on Ninty's FAQ site.
Has anyone here ever tried using bigger drives for the Wii U?

Edit from Ninty's FAQ:
If the Wii U has the most recent system update installed, it will be able to recognize a storage device of any size, but 2TB will be the maximum amount of storage capacity that can be used. Any extra capacity in the storage device beyond the 2TB will not be accessible via the Wii U.
Shit. :(
Could this 2 TB limit be extended by Mocha?

Nah, don't worry, I figured out the problem, I was using a GPT partition table instead of MBR, I switched to the last one and now it Works perfectly!

EDIT: I never tried a drive that is beyond 2TB on the U, but I think that is the problem too, because if you format the drive into the Wii U format it will only use 2TB AFAIK and no more, maybe is you make a partition of 1TB or 2TB (FAT32) for your HDD it might work.
I would try another HDD, Wii U data manager will not work if it needs to read a drive that is highter than 2TB (I think).

Hi everybody. This a problem I ran into while playing VC Wii games using Mocha (mocha.elf inside apps>mocha) no matter what region the game is. After 5, 10, 15 minutes playing story mode in VC Wii games, my console is turned off, the only thing I try to do is restart it but the same issue is there. It's a pity It keep me from playing VC Wii games (using my only HDD) while everything run smoothly and correctly with VC N64, VC DS, etc :´(. Am I the only one with this problem? Is this a issue already overcome in a cfw update? Plz tell me

I have had no problem with this played xenoblade chronicles for over 40 hours with zero issues and many more hours in other games.

Mh that sucks. Partitioning the drive would cause Nintendont to not work.

Updating my concern. Yesterday I was playing Sin & Punishment VC Wii, and I could notice that if I enter into options menu in the middle of gameplay or after a chapter I try to upload on the leaderboards, the console turns off. But if I just keep playing, it lets me finish the chapter. I think as long as I don't stop the train of continuing events, everything is ok... or maybe it's an isolated case (just my console 8gb+hdd)... well

No release since December, no commits since February, is Mocha dead?

Sorry is this has been covered already but I don't have the time to read through 60+ pages to find out.

dimok was the only one who worked on mocha and he is currently busy with other stuff.
Mocha is open source, anyone can pick it up so I wouldn't consider it dead.

I've been trying to set up games manually using the fat32 feacture with my HDD so I don't need to format it to the wiiu's format, but every time I want to boot them (yes, they appear in icons on the system menu and have their tiks), it tells me it'll check for updates and stays locked in that state with no progress. Is it because the HDD is taken as the SD?, if so, why can I see the games on the system menu? and does anyone know how I can put updates manually into the usr/title/005something/(game)?.
Furthermore, I'll check if you can actually install games using the SD as the USB manually.

Okay, figured it out you can use the games until the "update check" gets an error and promps you to launch it without the updates, it can take a while. About the updates, I still need a bit of help with it.
Note: you can't use the games from your SD on the system menu.

One of the limitations of USB FAT32 support is that the system can't install titles to it, and updates are titles, so it shouldn't be expected to work. As with regular titles, you can probably get them to work if you're copying one that's already installed, and updating an existing update to a newer version might work by replacing all of the files via ftpiiu_everywhere. (I haven't tried that)

Update 3: Tittles that aren't installed into the console nor a save data or tik on the console itself can work, but ONLY A FEW. Working titles I've tried:
-New Super Mario Bros U
-Shantae HGH (has an error while saving data into the HDD/USB device)
-Mario party 10
-Mario 3d World
I'll keep trying and find out why only THOSE work.
