As too many postings came after my question i will just ask again before i do something wrong:

Do i really have to do "Step IV - CTRNAND Luma3DS" from plailects guide (https://3ds.guide/updating-to-boot9strap) ?
I only use Gateway Emunand, standard boot is Luma3DS to GW Emunand and everything seems to work fine after i finished step III.
For what is Step IV useful ? Should i do it or don´t do it ? If i should do it, please tell me why it is needed, as i really do not understand
Thanks everyone
Step Out IV makes you able to boot 3ds without sd card. If you always have the sd inside, you can skip it.

Thank you. Yes i always have SD Card inserted. Could anything "bad" happen if i accidently boot 3ds without sd card inserted ?
Second question: If in any case someday the sd slot should stop working, would doing step IV be a good idea anyway ? or does a sd slot failure happen so rarely that i really can ignore CTRNAND Luma ?

It will simply not boot without sd. I've never heard of sd slot failures

thank you very much, so i will simply skip this, because i don´t want to do anything on sysnand and keep it as free as possible from mods :)
Last questions: I made backups for bootroms & otp. bootrom bins have 64kb size each and otp bin has 1 kb. is that correct ?
I am assuming with backups for sysnand and emunand with these together i should be very safe in regards for bricks right ?

I am following this guide to update from luma to the new boot9strap. But on section 2, when launching safehax it just stays black :/ If I launch it without launching udsploit first I get a PM INIT FAILED error. I tried around 10 times now :/

Thanks I did follow it till section 3 and after
"
In the Luma3DS configuration menu, use the (A) button and the D-Pad to turn on the following:
  • “Show NAND or user string in System Settings” "
I can't boot my 3DS anymore. Some stuff flashes up on the screen, like it normally does, but then it just ends in a black screen.

Do you have boot.firm on the root of your SD card?

Guys, I have an Old 3DS XL, here's my current setup:

- SysNAND v. 9.2 w/ Title Manager to install CIA's, just in case.
- Gateway EmuNAND v. 11.2
- Installed HomeMenuHax to boot into CTRBootManager. (Defaulted to Gateway EmuNAND)
- CTRBootManager also can boot into RXTools(pretty outdated now, don't need this anymore.)
- Mini Pasta (I use this to install and play CIA Virtual Console GBA's to my SysNAND, I kinda want to keep it.)
- Homebrew Launcher

I understand that this setup now needs to change but I don't want to lose all my saves. So I want to be able to boot into my Gateway EmuNAND with Luna. Update it to latest firmware and play my CIA games online. And if Gateway decides to update in the future, use the red card features as well.

I also want to be able to boot into SysNand with minipasta or with some equivalent to play GBA games. (Or I need a method to play them in EMUNAND)

If someone could walk me through this transition, I would be really happy.

I feel like an idiot.
I decided to upgrade from menuhax to Boot9strap. Everything went alright.
However, silly me forgot to remove menuhax in the process, and now i can't enter the hacked sysnand. It shows the Luma splash screen, menuhax appears, and then it takes me to the CTRBootManager menu.
If i hold L, it takes me to the Emunand.
Any help?

Edit: Just had a random idea. What if i leave menuhax acts, in the CTRBootManager i chose Homebrew launcher, and from there i use Tiny format?

You seem to have done what I want to achieve, may I ask for your help?

EDIT: Look at the above post please.

need help guys
I just followed instructions at https://adrifcastr.github.io/3Down/ to downgrade my 11.4 to 11.2, and during CTRNAND Transfer process I saw some error (CMAC mismatch or something like that) but at the end it says success, so I proceed to press START to reboot
and after that it's black screen whenever I try to run sysnand
emunand works without issue, godmode9 still working, but just cannot run luma on sysnand

any thoughts? I did backup every time it asks me to, so maybe I can restore one of them?

Yes, the one that was in the Luma Update zip

edit:
If I try to boot with out my SD card in just doesn't boot. The power light flashes up for a moment and then turns off.
just noticed that we're having the exact same issue, but with different cause though
have you solved this?

in my case, there's something wrong with the sysnand. fortunately I've set up an emunand and can use emunand without any issue
but obviously still need to find the cause and fix the sysnand
can I just restore nand backup using godmode9 (no skill with soldering here)

I manged to fix it by redowloading the boot.firm and using that do go into godmode and follow along the guide. However now I can only boot into sysNand. So I got no clue what is going on and the guide is not helping :(

Edit: After reading through the guide again it seems that I have skipped over the step to back up my Emunand, I still got a full back up of my SD card, but I think it is lost :/

Try a different SD card maybe?

Edit: saw your other post. What happens when you select Boot emuNAND in the Luma config menu (hold Select on boot)?

Okay, so I heard the 11.3 update was bad for CFW users, so I keep pressing no when it asks me to update. However, I can't seem to get online without updating. Is it safe to update? I've been avoiding this for months in hopes that it would eventually be okay

I also heard from a friend that a ban wave was being issued for CFW users, but can someone verify if this true? I went into system settings and turned of spotpass sending data or whatever like he said but I don't know if I got banned.

It's safe to update. To avoid the banwave you might want to also disable show my friends what title I'm playing or whatever in friend list settings.

I just moved from a9lh to boot9strap since Luma3DS is no longer supporting a9lh. On a9lh I was able to inject gba saves into the virtual console games. I tried to research how to do this on boot9strap, but I wasn't able to find anything. Is there any possible way to do this on boot9strap?
