Hacking Older 3DS XL , what to do ?

My daughter decided to take out her old 3DS XL for some playing.

I wanted to inform here what the possibilities are nowadays.
I know about flashcards , she had it on her DS but now i read about CFW (wich i had on an old PSP).

What would be the best option for this 3DS XL , Flashcard or CFW and please give some pros/cons on it , haven't been following anything for a few years now. So concider me noob allthought i will understand most

3DS is on FW 4.4.0-10E

That's all you need. (Unless you want to play DS backups, in that case, you can use a DS flashcart.)

If you want to play ROMs, stick with the flashcart.
If you want stuff such as custom themes, mods, and the like, definitely install Custom Firmware. You can use 3ds.guide to install Custom Firmware. It's safe if you follow ALL the steps. DON'T. SKIP. ONE.

So , she just wants to play some games , don't think she needs the other stuff ...

What flashcard is the way to go nowadays ?

And what are pros/cons in CFW vs flashcard ?

I hear people favor the R4i.
You'd have to ask someone else for the pros and cons.

If she want to play DS games you need an r4i, acecard or similar. If 3ds games a flashcard like sky3ds+ (really expensive) or cfw (3ds.guide).

TBH, CFW is a better choice. It's free, and allows you to play 3DS ROMs (by converting them to installable format) and more, such as Custom Themes, unlimited play coins, etc., all from the HOME Menu!

Friend asked me to do his kids 3DS XL , old version.

Is this 3ds.guide still the way to go or is there or are there better options nowadays ?

Nope , no flashcard ...

Both methods get you the same end goal of Luma3DS CFW. It all depends on the available resources.
