You see, Mocha (not the official one) is needed for SD access.I've been using that one. Though I did reinstall it now since you mention it. Still same results however.
Something new I discovered, Smash 4 mods uses both Haxchi and sdCafiine. So I know it has to be possible.

You can add the mod as an update.I have mario kart 8 on loadiine. I load it with mii maker and can only play the game unedited/no dlc. I have not tried to edit the original game with mods but I figure it may not work. Ive learned to run the game with updates/dlc its need Smash Wii U as the loading method then mii maker. So im guessing to run mods on mario kart 8 i would also need Smash Wii U right? Or could I just edit the original one?

Unless your mod is meant for updated MK8, then yes, you need Smash.
