That is absolutely true, but for a DBZ fan they were amazing, especially BECAUSE of all the near-dupe characters. They had subtle differences which mirrored every single change the characters went through in the show, so you could do match-ups like ep.37 piccolo vs ep.130 gohan, etc.

This is my issue with games like the new Gundam vs Gundam titles, they sacrifice staying faithful to the shows by trying to balance everything, and it makes for an awful experience and ARGHHH don't mind me
You should try DRAGON BALL Z: THE LEGEND on PS1 or the superior version, on Sega Saturn. It's a really fun game and what Battle of Z was originally based on.

Xenoverse is a take on the Tenkaichi series than BoZ/TL.

I respectfully disagree

Xenoverse is a spiritual successor to Sagas, in terms of game play and Online in terms of story. Yet contains many changes from both.

Sagas was a good concept but a really shitty game. And also, Sagas was a ground battle game whereas Xenoverse is sky battles which is what The Legend / Battle of Z were just like it.

Yeah that game had a cool mechanic where you couldn't win until you had your power bar maxed out or whatever. There was a Groove Adventure Rave game similar for the GBA (though that had platforms kinda like Smash)
