8 Bitdo have Updated their controllers to work with the Switch

This is great news for those wanting to purchase a cheap controller but weren't able to. Well, now they can. The only problem is that the 8 Bitdo controllers are meant for NES/SNES games so not adequate to play games which require too many buttons (would work fine with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, for example).

Wanted to love the NES30 Pro but the bluetooth lag, as minuscule as it may be, made it impossible for me to enjoy retro gaming on it. Had to return it sadly.
I never noticed any lag. I played SSB4 with it and didn't feel like the controller was holding me back in any way besides the small size, even that didn't really affect me enough that it made me want to use a different controller.
What device did you use it on? It supports just about every modern or semi-modern device, so I can imagine that it might not work perfectly on all of them. I've mostly used it on Wii/Wii U, and a little bit on Android.

Works perfectly with Mario Kart, even without joysticks or the extra buttons
That's pretty cool, I wouldn't want to play Mario Kart without an analog stick myself, MKDS had pretty poor controls although playable. And don't even get me started on the SNES/GBA entries :P
NES30 Pro/FC30 Pro seem like the best choice, I have a NES30 Pro but kind of wish i had gone for the FC30 Pro instead cause I really like the design of that. But both of them have fully featured controls, of course minus the Switch specific stuff (HD Rumble, Amiibo support and gyros but those don't matter in most games)

Is 8bitdo's website down? No matter what device I use it won't load their website.
Try copy the link to this http://support.8bitdo.com/#tab2 an paste it on JDownloader (or any download manager that reads webpages for links) if you have it. you bypass loading the page :P.Then, search firmware for your specific device and you're done.

I have a SFC30 and i also have noticable input lag when connected to Wii U mode, its very annoying when playing a hard mario maker level for example. I love the controller but only for pc and ios.
I came here to warn you guys but around 20 of you already did! Too bad, this could have been amazing...

There are conflicting reports of having lag and no lag. The website also advertises the controller to have "no lag". Can someone do an organised test to find a conclusion?

I experienced minuscule amounts of lag on my NVIDIA Shield TV using Retroarch. Android could be to blame... but as someone who has played the same games hundreds of times over the last 25+ years even the smallest delay impacts game play. Plus I'm quite sensitive to these things, I know to some people input lag is less noticeable but I can't even use wireless mice as the lag throws me off. Guess I'm just captious...

Lon Seidman did an interesting video regarding bluetooth input lag that others may be interested in watching.

Asking again.
It works on my Wii (I don't own a Wii U) in Wii games and Nintendon't games but with a few caveats:
The official legacy firmware (version 2.0 and by extension I think the new 4.0 version as well) only works with Nintendont and via USB cable. To use it as a Wii remote or Classic controller you need an alternative 1.71 firmware, I believe, though it also works with Nintendont via USB.
However, the new Switch-compatible firmware drops the Wii remote and Classic controller modes.
Btw, I own a NES30 Pro one, with analog sticks. I think people having lag issues should specify which controller they're using.

Does the controller work on the Wii U (and Nintendont)? On the newest firmware? May consider getting one (also for Switch) - looks really nice.
It seems like there is no Wii/Wii U version of the newer firmwares, only the old 1.71 firmware has Wii U/Retron5/P$ compatibility. I will be sticking to 1.71 for the time being as I use it sometimes on Wii U and I can just use the Joy-Cons on my Switch anyway.
sorry bro but in my definitions 40€ for a controller is not cheap
They are $30 sometimes on Massdrop, that's where I got mine.

Where can I download that firmware? I can only find 4.0 on their firmware site.
