- How are you launching it? HBC, Forwarder, etc ?
- Did you backup/remove any prior config files so that it has a fresh start?
- What is your HDD/SD configuration?
- What cIOS' are you running?

1) Through HBC
2) No, but I have an older USB Loader GX on the same SD that boots up perfectly fine.
3) Partitioned HDD in WBFS. (Its in that format for the aforementioned older USB Loader GX version.)
4) I think... iOS 58 (v6175), not all too sure how to tell. I see it from WiiFlow's Help Guide.

Just saying, console is ver 3.2 --- but that's never been an issue before.

Ok - so running your apps from SD, right?
What folder is your USBLGX (original) in, and what is the folder name of the new one?

It is possible the new one is reading the config from the old folder if it detected it. I'm not 100% sure how each version of the loader has worked but many apps are hardcoded to look for config files in a few places and if your original folder has the standard naming it might be looking there.

I would rename the original folder to .old or something to make sure it isn't found.

As far as I know there shouldn't be an issue with WBFS or SysMenu 3.2.

If I were you though, I wouldn't mess around that much until you update your whole system.
There is virtually no reason you shouldn't update using Mauifrog's guide here on GBA. It will take you maybe 10-15 minutes to read it over and then 20-30 minutes to overwrite your existing mods.

You can also convert your wbfs to fat32 without loosing data.

Again, USBLGX *should* work with what you have, but might not want to troubleshoot too much until everything else is upgraded.

Yes, both app folders have been given distinct names.
I'll give it a shot -- trying a fresh install and all. I personally don't think it can be that but its a lead.

EDIT:
@bengalih

Whoa! I take it back!
USB Loader GX r1262 is working! Niceee!
Next is how can I get it to read my GC games from the HDD? I just installed the DiosMios12.wad and its not reading anything from HDD.

The loader itself looks for the config file in this order starting with the SD slot:
/apps/usbloader_gx/
/config/

The forwarder looks for the config in this order starting with the SD slot:
/config/
/apps/usbloader_gx/
/apps/usbloadergx/

There isn't really any mechanism for keeping them separate currently. The best bet is to use only one copy and put it in "/apps/usbloader_gx/".

The reason they're hard-coded is because since the Wii doesn't really have an operating system to speak of the application has no idea where it was launched from. It would have been nice if the HBC passed that as the first argument like most OSes do, but oh well. :P

You will need to convert your wbfs partition to fat32:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-convert-from-wbfs-to-fat32-or-ntfs.292391/

If you still have issues after that I recommend you download and use Nintendont instead of diosmios as it is newer and generally the recommended way to go now.

I haven't tried it yet as I don't have GC controllers and would need a bigger HDD.

On that note...

What is the biggest HDD/partition sizes that Wii/USBLGX can support?

I think Cyan added support for GPT so theoretically there shouldn't be a drive size limit, but I don't know if d2x or other cIOSes support it, so the partition size would depend on the file system.

I'm using rev1262 and I could not get my hdd to be recognized using GPT. Had to convert it to MBR, so "only" 2TB can be used (with a 4TB disk :()

Hey, quick question... I am trying to ask a question in ASK! > Nintendo Wii > Homebrew but it seems as though the option is not available for me. Can anyone help me out?

This probably isn't a loader issue - but hoping someone has an idea. Wife and kids were playing PAL copy of Thomas Hero of the Rails on our 4.3 NTSC console. The game booted fine and they were playing it for probably 10-20 minutes or so when they got a black error screen that said something like "An error has occurred. Press the eject button and remove the disc..."

I can't find any errors about this game being problematic specifically - but it is a very uncommon game so I doubt a lot of people are using it. I'm not sure it can be a missing/wrong (c)IOS because it boots and plays. My wife said it happened at a seemingly random part. I have played this game previously with my son for at least 15-20 minutes and didn't have an issue.

Any idea what causes this and how to prevent? Again, seemingly random because the game is very simplistic and we pretty much played through the whole thing and didn't have the errors before.

thanks

Did you check the game partition with something like Dolphin and make sure it matches its hash? That sounds like there may be a corrupt file that's causing it... maybe a music file or something if it doesn't always happen in the same spot.

I'm unfamiliar with that process. I believe dolphin is the PC emulator for Wii, correct?
Are you saying that it has built-in hash tables to verify games?
Is it as simple as installing Dolphin and connecting my FAT32 disk with WBFS files to my PC and run some sort of scan against them?

The game itself has the hashes in it. If you right-click on the game in Dolphin and go to properties>Filesystem then right-click the game partition and select "check partition integrity".

You can also use Wiimm's ISO tools. (wit verify)
