Okay. So I attempted to do a hard mod directly to the motherboard to make a NAND backup which went perfectly fine and I made a backup but, to my surprise, whenever I try to turn the system on it makes a loud pop and the top screen flashes very briefly. I've checked all the ribbon cables and they look fine. As I was "interneting" I found many people saying that the problem only happens when a ribbon cable is damaged or loose but inot my case it isn't.
I looked closely at the motherboard and it seemed as if the resistor array to the left of the clock test pad (the one that says 095) had the bottom right two pins had been soldered together although I highly doubt it.
I don't want to risk damaging the device further but I want to know of this could cause the device to fail to boot

SOLVED: There was a 2 pin flat flex connector that I believe powered the cartridge board which was loose and needed to be taped down. Thanks to the people who helped :)

EDIT2: Ok, I've come to the conclusion that the resistor array i soldered together by accident has destroyed the WiFi functionality. The MAC address of the device shows up as all zeros and when I turn WiFi on, the device crashes. Rip me.

Same happened to me. Just disassemble and reassemble it. You have somewhere loosened ribbon cable. It can be on the mobo or on top screen on mini speaker mobo. Just make sure all your screen cables are as tight as possible, not only on mobo!!

BTW which sd card reader have you used?

I used a Transcend sd card reader but I'm not too sure what chip it uses. I'll check the top screen assembly tomorrow. Hope it works o7

I can say this for 100% it is caused by ribbon cable, but don't know which one or if it is ripped or just not tight enough.
Well I've checked the cables and they seem to seated securely. I'm seriously beginning to think I may have damaged the motherboard

Have you unplugged and plugged them? They might look like they are securely connected, but don't have to be. Also, you might look at the screen, because there are some ribbon cables too.

Is the screen clipped on or glued? I don't want to damage he screen by taking it off the case

You desoldered them right?
Wifi board can be replaced, it shouldn't cost too much.

You don't need a reflow oven, just a steady hand.
I don't trust myself after what happened, my iron is really old and it has a really wide chisel tip which is already the thickness of the SMD.
Just to make sure, the WiFi SOC is the one right above the NAND SOC underneath the EMF shield right? It's hard to tell whether I damaged the resistor array and I don't want to damage it further by trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Hi, your solution to tape down the 2 pin flex located above the cartridge port works fine for me too. I guess its to power the top screen

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
